Mandolin too! Especially as Edge was messing with one in the recent recordings. Be cool to hear if that ends up on the new album. And if it's more traditional mandolin playing or Edge-ified delay-laden plush atmospheric mandolin.

Yea, the mandolin was a major instrument on the Who's Endless Wire...... didnt turn out too good.
  2. Here's "Reggie" with his Ovation mandolin (or maybe Danny Lanois') whilst they were in Fez, Morocco.

Moght be a Ovation Celebrity MCS148 Acoustic-Electric Mandolin. Not 100% sure. It is definitely an Ovation (brand)

We have a mandolin! I was playing Mothers Of The Disappeared on it yesterday, albeit in a slightly lower key lol (G, to be precise - MotD is in A on the album, but the mandolin's string setup meant it was easier to play it in G whilst still being able to use drone notes, as it were). I was watching the Buenos Aires '05 performance when Edge plays the charanga, and it inspired me lol. We have a lot of random instruments in our family...

...in addition to the 3 acoustics (my Ridgewood semi-acoustic, a 3/4 size acoustic, cheap shitty nylon strung Spanish style one) and 3 electrics (my Les Paul and Ridgewood Strat. plus my bro's Yamaha Strat. - similar to the one Edge has/had), we've got a Welmar piano; accordion; violin, brother's bagpipes and practice pipes; trumpet; my old trombone and flute that I haven't touched in a while, and finally the mandolin. I feel like I've forgotten something...
  4. cool hopefully the edge is better at playing it than PT was..... Anyone for the ukulele on the next album?

    Anyway, my question:

Was Edge playing an acoustic guitar during the Fly on the Vertigo tour?

The question is, was he using it to record or just plinking for a bit on it?

And Steve, I think a ukelele is pushing it....

A bit, but.... Blue Red and Grey by the Who sounds pretty good, but not U2 at all. My bad!

Mick from THe Unforgettable Fire has a Ukelele and has played some U2 songs on it, with effects... pretty cool.
