1. Similar to the 1973 that he still has, as the knobs are similar. And Edge's is faded to cream.

I've heard a luthier once saying that taking off the covers makes the sound a little, very little, more trebly, because the poles of the pick up will be exposed to the strings without something in the way. I cannot speak from my personal experience. I am not a guitarrist .

Supposedly it depends on the stuff that the pickup covers are made of. German Silver (which doesn't actiually contain any silver) is supposed to be the best metal for pickup covers since it's said not to influence the sound. Cheaper metal is said to cut highs, making the pickups sound muffled. But I haven't A/B-ed it. I bet on quality pickups it's nothing more than just a different look.

  3. The Edge UNPLUGGED

It seems he still like a bit of sweet Cream Les Paul

I think that even on the good ones it makes some difference...just look how Jimmy Page was always changing the pick ups on his le paul from covered to uncovered.
  5. You might remember that I took some pics of Edge 1975 Gibson Les Paul a few months back (the one that was auctioned in 2007).

You can see that particular Les Paul had the pickup covers removed. The 1973 and 1975 both have gold pickup rings.

Refer to the aforementioned pictures (pics below):

  6. What is this picture from? I don't remember seeing this before... cool picture.

  7. I'm not a guitar expert, but technically he isn't unplugged...he's plugged in, right?

[/ small detail that doesn't really matter ]

  9. NEW DRUMS AND DRUM FINISH FOR LARDENCE!!!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOK. Larry got new drums!!!!! Looks like an "oyster pearl" finish!

10 years of black drums and almost ten years of white - now a black and white oyster finish. Sweet!

(I know, I am way to excited about that, aren't I?)

  10. Just a bit lol - I have to say though, watching that clip of the cover of I Still Believe In Father Christmas they're releasing, I had a little moment of "oooooh!" when I saw Edge playing a Rick...

    Likewise, pretty neat performance.

  12. I wonder if they'd ever play it live on the next tour, assuming they have dates around the Xmas period...I dunno why, but I can see it acting as a segue into Streets lol...
