    Superbly done. New York is one of my favorite songs. I've played along to it a couple of times with my Telecaster, but it's never sounded this good.

    A question for those who know more than I do (which is all of you): in that BBC guitar series, Johnny Marr demonstrated his Rickenbacker/Fender amp sound. Any idea what kind of effect he is using? Is that just the sound of a Fender Twin Reverb amp? It sounds so good!

  2. When plugging in he plays a few dry chords, probably with a little spring reverb. When starting to perform he has some "jangle" background which makes me believe he might use an "octave up" pitch shifter, most likely to make it sound closer to a twelve string guitar.

    Any other suggestions?

  4. Mark Knoppler play a National Steel Resonator. Myles Kennedy's is a Dean. I didn't see anything that Myles did that was so out of the ordinary - looked like blues playing which resonator guitars are known for.

    I didn't mean the actual style of playing was out of the ordinary, I meant the guitar because I'd never come across one before
  8. yea that's always one I've tried to stay away from. Just listening to that song, and all of the effects thrown in there makes me imagining myself spending hours and hours trying to nail the tone. As for an acoustic version, the only thing I can think of is the chords you mentioned, sorry man.
