1. Fairly sure it's semi-hollow, but I'm no authority on the matter
  2. Pretty sure it's semi and has a soundblock in the middle, where the pickups are mounted... Like a Gibson ES335.

But I will do some research to be sure.

Wonder if Edge will bring out the White Falcon (seen in the u2.com clips) this tour? That'd rock!

It's not the 1962 stereo one from the Pride video. I think that one might have also met it's demise in the flood.

Never the less, the new one is pretty cool.

Agree about the White Falcon - I just hope that it is the case that Edge is unleashing the power of the semi/hollow-bodied guitars back on the music world, kinda like drawing back on the traditions of guitarring but moving it into a new stage of the band's career, if that makes any sense. I mean, as I said earlier, the small amount of material we've actually seen has shown him mostly playing Ricks etc. (bar that clip of him using an eBow on one of his LPs) inc. the Father Christmas cover...maybe I'm just being slightly nostalgic lol.
  4. One of the lads from the U2Rec list menioned, about a year ago, that Dallas had just bought a few vintage Ric 6-strings at a shop in Chicago.

This reported per U2 Recording site member Jason:

"I just got back from my very first trip to the Chicago Music Exchange. It's a really great vintage guitar shop only a few miles from my place here in Chicago. Played a bunch of nice 70's strats, LP's and a Gibson 330.

I got to talking with the owner near the stompbox display. I just happened to look in the case and saw a mint Kay Fuzz, which is what Edge used on the Elevation intro. Price? $650. Ouch.

Anyway that got us talking about U2. Turns out Dallas was JUST in the store on Monday. Bought a few interesting items.

    Kay Tremelo

Evidently Dallas was so taken with this pedal he talked the shop owner into GIVING it to him!!! How can you say no when the guy is paying top-dollar for 4 vintage guitars for The Edge??

    Rickenbacker - 6 string
Rickenbacker 4005 bass (perhaps this is for Adam?)
    Rickenbacker - [unknown model]
Fender Telecaster - vintage - with Bigsby trem

Will be interesting to see how/if the Kay Trem is used.

Dallas told the shop owner that they have an arsenal of like 10 of those old Kay Fuzz pedals. Odd since it's only used on ONE song."

    SO there you have it.
  5. Harry did you get your explorer yet?

  6. lol, I was waiting for someone to ask about that. At the moment I'm still Explorer-less because they're currently out of stock around the UK, and the people I ordered from are currently waiting for a new shipment, predicted to arrive on the 22nd, so only a couple of weeks with any luck.

Nice. You'll be happy once you get it man. Explorers are SICK. it's always fun to hear about another guitar player getting a new guitar. I get almost as excited as they do haha. I don't know why, but yea, its exciting.

I know what you mean all too well lol, I was buzzing when my mate from Uni. told me he'd had his Mustang delivered, it's a weird thing but it's just mutual guitar nutjobs rejoicing in the beauty of guitarness
  9. Hey guys. Just to get you a little more hyped up for your explorer Harry, as well as a demo for the Vox Tonelab LE's effects, check these 2 new videos out:

    The Fly:

    In God's Country:

  10. Nice stuff mate, although YOU ARE A SOD! lol. 'Tis the one thing I can't wait to do when the Explorer arrives, i.e. use it to play the Fly (although I really wanna find that version of the BT where someone put together a version in Ab á la Elevation, would rock my socks if it came up again lol.
  11. QUESTION: What do Bono, The Edge and I have in common?
ANSWER: Each of us have played "One" on a Gretsch Country Club.

I had an opportunity to play "One" with The Joshua Tree, last weekend. Great fun & quite the honor to be asked to play a song with such a great band! And I got to play a fantastic Gretsch Country Club.

    Here's a pic:

JT put on a great show. They are super nice folks. Always a joy to see them play. If you ever have the chance to see them - GO! You will not be disappointed. They do play lots of tunes that U2 no longer play (or have not played live) - like The Unforgettable Fire, Hallelujah Here She Comes, All Along The Watchtower, Sweetest Thing, Helter Skelter, UltraViolet... plus tons of other great songs.

Bono with his Gretsch Country Club?:

Edge playing "One" on Bono's Country Club?:
    ONE:

    and
    MISS SARAJEVO
