  3. Nice stuff mate, although YOU ARE A SOD! lol. 'Tis the one thing I can't wait to do when the Explorer arrives, i.e. use it to play the Fly (although I really wanna find that version of the BT where someone put together a version in Ab á la Elevation, would rock my socks if it came up again lol.
  4. QUESTION: What do Bono, The Edge and I have in common?
    ANSWER: Each of us have played "One" on a Gretsch Country Club.

    I had an opportunity to play "One" with The Joshua Tree, last weekend. Great fun & quite the honor to be asked to play a song with such a great band! And I got to play a fantastic Gretsch Country Club.

    JT put on a great show. They are super nice folks. Always a joy to see them play. If you ever have the chance to see them - GO! You will not be disappointed. They do play lots of tunes that U2 no longer play (or have not played live) - like The Unforgettable Fire, Hallelujah Here She Comes, All Along The Watchtower, Sweetest Thing, Helter Skelter, UltraViolet... plus tons of other great songs.

  8. Nice. Always though the Country Club was one of the best-looking guitars out there. So it played well? What'd you think of the sound? You used an AC30 for amplification I take it...?

    Indeed I did. Nothing wrong with that. Plus, Andy Summers of The Police is a great guitarist!

    I was playing through a Valvetronix. It sounded pretty great. I liked it alot. If I had the spare change I'd have a Cadillac Green Country Club, like that one, in a New York second.

    Not that a Country Gentleman wouldn't be bad either... or a White Falcon...

    Hahaha aren't we all...yeah if I was gonna drop some serious coin on a guitar I'd go for a Gretsch. And what can I say about that Cadillac Green finish?

    Those pickups look similar to the ones on my Rickenbacker--seeing as they are both hollowbody guitars, wouldn't the sound be kinda/pretty similar?
  12. Actually the Rics and Gretsch sound different. Ric's are a bit more jangly (think early REM, The Byrds, The Romantics - to name a few)

    Assuming the p'up comparison is between those on the Country Club and the Ric "High Gain" p'ups?

    The p'ups on Bono's Country Club are DynaSonics (single coil) vs. the FilterTrons (humbucker) that are on Country Gents.
