1. It looks pretty great. Looking forward to his feature in Bass Player (assuming they do one, they have the last two album cycles) to hear a bit about what was used, his sparkle Fender Jazz, the burgundy mist Fender Jazz used in the U2.com vids/presumeably on album cuts...

    Should be cool.
  2. It looks PRETTY

  3. adam's bass totally made me go 'heeey, look at that!' - really cool and different-looking from the ones he used before me likes.
  4. The same here First thing I though was "What the hell??? Is that really a bass?? It's a Gibson ES-335 to my eyes!!" But I eventually saw that 4 strings lol
  5. So a few questions have come up about the white (white-ish) amp seen in the Olympic Studio pictures and at the Lincoln Memorial "We Are One" show.

It seems from both pictures that it belongs to Bono (or is set up to be used by Bono). That said, seems there is one to the left of Edge's Marshall amp in the "Get On Your Boots video. (Hmmmm?)

    Pics in question:

Perhaps the amp in question is a 50th Anniversary VOXAC30H (Handwired)?:

  6. And as per Larry... it is ALL ABOUT THE DRUMS...

Judging by the U2.com video of Larry working on Get On Your Boots", it looks like the album track and single feature his black oyster Ludwig drum kit complete with Zildjian cymbals. The Crash and Ride cymbals appear to be from the A Custom line. the hi-hats look to be older Avedis Zilljian - perhaps even Larry's old set from the late 1970's/early-early `80's?

  7. I will FINALLY have my Explorer today/tomorrow, i.e. 6th of Feb. in the UK in any case lol - it was finally delivered to my friend's house and he showed me the guitar (complete with hardcase) via. webcam. To say I was a veritable Cheshire cat doesn't do it justice lol...

...pictures should be up in good time, and maybe a sound clip or two if I get the chance this weekend
  8. Congrats! That is fantastic news. Looking forward to seeing some pictures and/or clips of your Explorer.

    Cheers

I'll be shocked if Larry actually tours with Zildjian cymbals, I can't imagine him playing anything but Paiste, and as a drummer, I love Paiste....Larry's cymbals have always sounded SOO good on the past two tours, actually for any tour post UF; so crisp and clean

Larry has used Paiste for a number of years and they are great cymbals. That said, Sabian and Zildjian also make some great sounding cymbals.

In the video of LMJ playing "...Boots...", he appears to be playing Zildjian "A Custom" cymbals. A Custom line, like the Paiste Signature line that LMJ has used since Achtung Baby, a a bright cymbal.

LMJ used Paiste for the "We Are One" show in DC. Chances are that is what he will tour with. We'll probably know more come Sunday, as U2 will be on the Grammy Awards.

  11. Finally got it! It's now sitting in pride of place on my stand. Such a great tone, so much better than my beloved Les Paul. Happy days! Uploading pics and clips in a bit, just got to sort it all out. YAY!
  12. I remember when I got mine... plugged it in for the first time... just the Explorer into a Vox amp... 'Instant Edge' (tm)

    Good times.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures and hearing some clips.

    Rock on!
