  2. Off the HOOK!!! Nice axe my man. I like how it's the darker natural, not the really mustardy explorers you see sometimes. I've seen that one in the store before as well, and I came very close to buying it too! I remember it being a great guitar, and I'm sure yours is too. Have fun man!
  3. So, anyone get to check out the samples from the Walmart link? Magnificent is in F#m from the sounds of it, i.e. the chords to the riff section sound like F#m, C#m, A, E, but that was just trying to play along so I could be wrong, but it sounded like that. NLOTH sounds like it's in E...

    On the subject of guitars...anyone got any opinions on Yamaha stuff? I'm thinking of investing in a Pacifica, but ideally I'm looking for something with 3 singles, and I know the new Pacifica range have humbuckers in the bridge position. I'm intrigued as to whether something like Streets or AIWIY would work in phase between a bridge humbucker > middle single lol.
  4. There's a simple wiring shortcut for SSH and HSH strats that splits the bridge humbucker in switch pos.2 (br-mid) but not in pos.1 (br). With that little trick you can get quacky sounds from pos.2 as expected from a strat - almost as good as the real thing. Plus you have the full humbucker on pos.1, delivering some serious rock power. Of course this only works if the humbucker has split option (i.e. 4 wires).

  5. So, Edge used a cream Telecaster (maybe the 1966-blonde finish that he used for Vertigo? I don't know) for the first performance of Get On Your Boots. Pretty cool if I might say that, I was expecting a Les Paul but a Tele did a fantastic job

    That echo (wah-wah?) on the small solo at 01:40 makes me SHIVER

    Indeed, No Line On The Horizon has the following chord pattern:
    Verses (as far as we have been allowed to hear): E, E, C#m (brief chord), G#m, E...
    Chorus: C, C, D, D, E, E (this three chords sound fantastic if played barred at 3rd, 5th and 7th frets, respectively )

    Regarding Magnificient (together with Breath, my favorite clip by far ), it's in F#m indeed, and it seems to have some kind of F#m, B(minor?), A, E??, F#m pattern.

    Moment of Surrender offerrs the chords Am, F, C, E. But I can't say much more...

    Unknown Caller mantains a G chord troughout all the clip and the small G-based riff:

    Some slight variations can be threwn, like a 7h8 on the B string at the start of the riff, or something like that. Just for having some fun

    I'll Go Crazy..., which is in C, presents a nice C, Am, Em, Dm, Am, Em (hold before the chorus) and then C, Am, F, (and I guess G, but is not on the clip), progression.

    Get On Your Boots is already known, that breaking G chord on the chorus and all that stuff.

    Stand Up Comedy is also on F#m, and it has some A, B and E thrown there, but I can't say much.

    Being Born     (assuming that's the actual track, and Fez is the electronic bit) starts with a Gm, turns into an F and later I guess there will be an Em.

    White As Snow is probably in Em, ant it has a nice progression of Am, Bm, F#m, Em... There could be a D over there? Dunno...

    Breathe seems to be some kind of A, B, D, Am, D...

    And Cedars Of Lebanon has no chord progression I think. I can't hear no synthtiser nor bass, only a small keyboard and some strings which are insufficient to know anything about the chords or the key of the song.

    The echo-y wah bit rocks. Wondering if it's a bit of Lovetone Meatball or what... hopefully will learn more about this soon.

    Seems Edge has gone all Tele on us. Look at the Fez video on The Guardian, showing Edge with a tobacco Telecaster.

    My friend has one of the Death By Audio Supersonic Fuzzgun pedals.... nails "Get On Your Boots" dead on. I feel certain that pedal is the main sound on "Get On Your Boots".

    As far as I know this is the standard wiring for the strats with humbuckers. At least on all guitars og this kind that I have played.
  10. i like how raw the edgeputitdown guitar part for Magnificent sounded. on the walmart clip it was all polished up its not a bad thing but its become more of a pop track than i remember from the BC and the Edgeputitdown clip.

    Could be. I just realize right now that I've never played a stock SSH or HSH strat, so I can't confirm that.

  12. Hey guys. My AC30 is currently undergoing repairs, so my bro lent me his Marshall MG50DFX. Apparently these things aren't considered good amps, the MGDFX series, but the OD on this amp is to die for. I made a little demo with Electric Co. being my guineau pig or however you spell it. Check it out!
    I used my Gibson Explorer, my Tonelab with the Memory Man sim, and a little bit of TS-9, into the Marshall. The majority of the OD you hear is the amp though.
