    The same could be said of my Explorer; I've only had it a couple of weeks now but already I've fallen in love with it in a way I never quite have with my Les Paul. I mean, I like my LP (it's currently in hospital being seen to, dodgy pickup selector among the main problems - nothing unexpected seeing as I never had it properly set-up when I first got it, considering I got it as it was when it left the Epiphone factory, and less said there the better ) but the Explorer is another beast altogether. Much cleaner tone, much more bite - hook it up through my FX kit and my 20w Yamaha practice amp and there's some groovy tones coming out of that mother

    All for £255 aswell...

    My checklist is currently at getting a better amp., although guitars-wise I'm paying a bit more heed to Yamaha axes right now, the latest Pacifica especially although I'm fascinated by some of their hollow-body ranges too...

    ...a Casino would, however, quite frankly, be awesome.

    played the Jazz in France/ so I guess he is feeling them out.(played a white P-Bass for Breathe) 4 different basses so far for Boots. That is a constant riff he plays on that song. He might be finding the most comfortable bass to play. As a bass player that does come into your mind when playing a song. I do like the Yellow Glitter bass from the Obama Inag. the best so far.

    Why not rehearsing privately and see what's more comfortable, and then just play with it?

    I think it is good that he seems to be getting more into his gear and bass playing - and experimenting with various gear.

    There are some great bass grooves on this "No Line On The Horizon" album. And I'm loving it!

    Grand Journal TV show: Burgundy mist finish Fender Jazz (seen in loads of the U2.com videos whilst making the album) AND a white Fender Precision bass for "Breathe".

    When did you get a Casino? I recall you having a ric, and a tele, and one other guitar I can't remember the model of (possibly a Strat).

    Got it as a birthday present back in September. I do have a Rick and a Tele, as well as an old cheap Epiphone Dot (335 knockoff) that I haven't really touched since I got the Casino.

    I've been thinking lately about trading in my Rick and/or something else for a Gibson SG '61 RI. Any thoughts?

    Well, I'm not that keen on SG's, but it all depends on your preferences and what you want to play. If you're likely to play hard rock and so, an SG is what you need. If you want to play more U2-ish rock, a Rickenbacker is just awe-some... I wouldn't get rid of it that easily... But if you want to do it and you get a good trade(r) you'll be satisfied, SG's are great guitars

    Man, I have a name and a nickname, Sergio and LikeASong rerspectively Just kiddin'

    I didn't say he HAD to try them privately, I simply thought out loud, because it sounds strange to me... I guess GOYB wasn't recorded on one take: therefore it was (widely) rehearsed, and I guess Adam tried several basses (as I guess Edge tried several guitars) - why not sticking to the one he used on the studio? And, in case he wants to change, why not choosing the definitive bass after playing with them all? If he changes his bass every night, eventually he won't know which one is better ... Just for fun, did Edge ever change his guitar night after night for any song? I guess not
  11. Yea man a Ricky and an SG are very different sounding guitars, it all depends on what you want. If you want a humbucker guitar, and you're a fan of the SG, go for it. But if you'll miss the Ricky sound and you aren't too keen on getting rid of it, either keep it and don't get an SG, or keep it and save up for an SG. Your call.

    On that note, i've decided I'm going to buy a 12 string ricky later this year. (330). I've always dreamt of having one, and this year I'm going to buy one. I'm in the middle of getting an American Strat now, which I'm totally excited about, and probably fall of this year I'll get a ricky. Can't wait.
  12. SGs are quite head- heavy. If you choose to get an SG, I'd suggest to move the strap button to the upper horn - it's a common mod on SGs and helps with the matter.

    Personally I'm not much into SGs, too. They feel like lightweight LPs to me. But Tony Iommi is cool - especially his cross inlays. His signature humbuckers are a little overpriced, though.

    May I suggest you to keep the Rick, sell the Epi Dot and save for a "worn cherry" or "worn brown" SG special? These are good basic guitars with good pickups and have never been cheaper. Only drawback is the rough finish, but I think that feature's quite charming.
