    I didn't say he HAD to try them privately, I simply thought out loud, because it sounds strange to me... I guess GOYB wasn't recorded on one take: therefore it was (widely) rehearsed, and I guess Adam tried several basses (as I guess Edge tried several guitars) - why not sticking to the one he used on the studio? And, in case he wants to change, why not choosing the definitive bass after playing with them all? If he changes his bass every night, eventually he won't know which one is better ... Just for fun, did Edge ever change his guitar night after night for any song? I guess not
  2. Yea man a Ricky and an SG are very different sounding guitars, it all depends on what you want. If you want a humbucker guitar, and you're a fan of the SG, go for it. But if you'll miss the Ricky sound and you aren't too keen on getting rid of it, either keep it and don't get an SG, or keep it and save up for an SG. Your call.

    On that note, i've decided I'm going to buy a 12 string ricky later this year. (330). I've always dreamt of having one, and this year I'm going to buy one. I'm in the middle of getting an American Strat now, which I'm totally excited about, and probably fall of this year I'll get a ricky. Can't wait.
  3. SGs are quite head- heavy. If you choose to get an SG, I'd suggest to move the strap button to the upper horn - it's a common mod on SGs and helps with the matter.

    Personally I'm not much into SGs, too. They feel like lightweight LPs to me. But Tony Iommi is cool - especially his cross inlays. His signature humbuckers are a little overpriced, though.

    May I suggest you to keep the Rick, sell the Epi Dot and save for a "worn cherry" or "worn brown" SG special? These are good basic guitars with good pickups and have never been cheaper. Only drawback is the rough finish, but I think that feature's quite charming.

    As always--I appreciate your sage advice! Although its safe to say in this economy I doubt anyone (even Guitar Center) will want to buy/trade like I'd like, unfortunately :-(

    I'll be keepin the Rick, for a while anyway...the Epi Dot is definitely ahead of it on the "to-go" list.

    I mean no disrespect to Alex but I respectfully disagree about the 'worn Cherry' SGs. They are cheaper but they are not great guitars. The pickups sound horrible. If you want an SG, saving for a better model would probably make you happier in the long run.

    I do agree with Alex about the Ric... A Ric 360 is a nice guitar - definitely worth keeping. I also agree that the Epi Dot is a better guitar do sell, if you need a few bucks to toss in on a SG or Les Paul or something else in general.

  11. He did sound good. Magnificent will be...MAGNIFICENT in the live setting.

    Anyone hear this No Line performance for the BBC? What are your thoughts? Sounded like they tried to combine the two versions. I myself didn't like.

  12. I don't mind the arrangement. They just need to learn how to play the song that's all. Doesn't sound rehearsed or anything.
