  1. From my experience you can do as many rehersals as you want but it's not the same as actually playing it live.I haven't heard the live version of the song yet they will certainly improve on the first couple of performances.

    I do agree with Alex about the Ric... A Ric 360 is a nice guitar - definitely worth keeping. I also agree that the Epi Dot is a better guitar do sell, if you need a few bucks to toss in on a SG or Les Paul or something else in general.

    The humbuckers are 490R/490T combo, which you can like or dislike, but "horrible" is a too strong word IMHO. They are neither vintage PAFs nor high- output pickups. I like the 490R in the neck position, I had in in combination with a 498T installed in a guitar once. I don't like the 490T in bridge position much, but some do, and if you really consider it "horrible" you can easily sell it on Ebay and swap it this way without much additional cost for a 498T or a Burstbucker Pro... or anything else. Pickups are essential but not really a part of the guitar, as they are so easily swapped.

    I own a "Worn Brown" Les Paul, and I absolutely love it - but it has stock Burstbuckers Pro, and these are wonderful pickups. First I thought about changing them for the 490R / 498T combo that I still had, but I decided against it. It's my only stock guitar. If you dislike the 490R / 490T then I'd suggest to go for Burstbuckers Pro.

    Of course, if you desire a glossy finished guitar, a Worn SG won't make you happy in the long run.

    Alot of my friends play SGs. They're very nice guitars. The blue models look especially nice. If you do get one, I recomend a Marshall amp, for it. They don't sound right through, Fender or Vox ones (in my opinion).

    Just my tuppence worth - I'd keep the Rick. for sure, mainly because I seriously dislike SGs lol. Get an Explorer my friend and disappointed ye shall not be!!

    Seriously though, I'd still stick with the Rick., regardless of personal taste. I've said before, but my main gripe with SGs is on an aesthetic level in so far as I dislike spikey features on a guitar. I'd also say that Ricks are much more versatile, but again it's down to personal taste and what you're looking for by way of a next investment.

    Thought for the day - is it me or does it seem that Edge is turning more and more to semi-hollow and hollow-body guitars? Breathe, NLOTH, Magnificent (from what we're seeing) are all being played on Epi. Casino or Country Gents, whilst only GOYB so far has been played on a solid-body (in this case, a Tele.)...

    Adam is playing a Fender Precision... looks black but from one angle... maybe the lighting... it almost looked like it could be a dark blue or purple?

    yeh, thats the main riff, breathe is just a D then an A, then 2 more A's quickly, followed by power chord from 5th to 7th fret, etc....., nice and simple.
  10. After seeing the various awards shows, I noticed that Adam Clayton had some new amps. I was curious so I contacted Aguilar to find out what items of there's Adam was using and sent them off some pictures from the shows. Aguilar's response below:


    Hi Jeffrey,

    The rig Adam is using in those shots is a DB 750 amplifier with a DB 410 cabinet and a DB 115 cabinet (both cabinets in Classic Black). We appreciate you adding the links. They are as follows:

    Pics from BBC. Is that Indiana Jones playing bass! =O) Adam in a hat. That is different.

    Looks like Edge has a new (to him, or newly seen by us) Tweed Fender Blues Jr. amp, or perhaps he had the black Blues Junior from the Vertigo tour recovered?

    Looks like the Gretsch Country Gentleman is the guitar for "Magnificent". A Tele may have been on some of the song on the album but the solo (on the album) does sound very "Kite-like"; which was done with a Gretsch Country Gent. Also, he's seems to be using the custom made ring slide, instead of a regular tube slide for the solo on Magnificent.

    At the rooftop concert, looked like Edge was using the Tele 72 RI he had in the Vertigo video for Boots, Vertigo, and Magnificent...nice!

    Also: We can see Adam's new cabs, but where is the amp head? Backstage? Like Bono's effect chain?
