All of the amps are mic'ed and most of what you hear will be through the PA. While Edge has had 5 amps on-stage (Vertigo tour) there were more BEHIND those amps that are isolated, mic'ed and go straight to Joe O'Herilihy for mixing.
Any stage movement would probably be done between songs so there wouldn't be much of a doppler effect.
I guess what I meant was if theoretically there is no front, which way do the amps face? So yeah I supposed they'd be miked from backstage.
Also on that topic, I wonder where Edge's pedalboard and microphone will go.
Moving this whole setup around should be fun...not! Looks like there are 4 days in between shows to get things moved and set up.
U2 360° seems like a step towards what the Stones have been doing over the last few tours--maximum mobility. It should be awesome! Though I'm pissed the North American leg doesn't contain any shows near me
