    one more thing, what exactly is the point of Larry using that electronic drum for the "Sound" part of Boots? I think it would be better if he just kept time with it, that hip hop beat just snare, hi hat and bass drum. I can't particularly tell a difference when he's using that pad or whatever


    1) He might be setting off the sample loop with the Roland pad.
    2) And it gives him something to do while standing and singing the backup vocal - and hence it DOES add a bit of a visual element.

    As I remember, he seemed to be playing the snare on the hip hop beat on the pad.

    I'll grant you it does add a visual element, I just think he would look cooler rockin' out on his kit versus standing there banging on a drum. not trying to sound like I'm being too critical, just seemed odd
  4. Thanks for The Doors info Jeff. I honestly didn't know he ever used a 12-string, but I'm not suprised, as everyone and their brother did in the 60s. Perhaps a studio only guitar?

    I knew about his mad finger-picking skills though. I wonder if hes buddies with Mark Knopfler?

    I know that Robbie took flamenco guitar lessons before The Doors started, hence the fingerpicking. Spanish Caravan showcases that fingerpicking.

    In your humble opionion it might seem odd. And in the humble opinion of others it might not seem odd.

    The only opinion that matters is Larry's and Larry has been REALLY good at being LARRY for a long time. And if he thought it was lame, embarrassing, foolish, silly... Larry being Larry - he wouldn't do it.

  10. Do you really? That solo is very LP in my opinion, but I'm not an expert at all, I just got LP vibrations... I of course might be wrong

    Ahh I see...I was thinking more all of the other parts. Will listen conscientiously to the solo to see what I hear.

    EDIT: Have listened to the solo a couple of times. I suppose it easily could be a Les Paul, I'd say most definitely a solid body guitar. Perhaps we'll be surprised to find out it was the Explorer or a Tele...

    or the SG ...but most likely not. God I wish he would use that guitar more!!!



  12. Not so much. Unsure for certain, as I wasn't there when the recorded version was made but seems like Casino and Telecaster on a lot of the new tunes.

    ...that said the only thing that seemed to have a Stratocaster on it was the studio couch!
