    I know that Robbie took flamenco guitar lessons before The Doors started, hence the fingerpicking. Spanish Caravan showcases that fingerpicking.

    The only opinion that matters is Larry's and Larry has been REALLY good at being LARRY for a long time. And if he thought it was lame, embarrassing, foolish, silly... Larry being Larry - he wouldn't do it.

  6. Do you really? That solo is very LP in my opinion, but I'm not an expert at all, I just got LP vibrations... I of course might be wrong

    Ahh I see...I was thinking more all of the other parts. Will listen conscientiously to the solo to see what I hear.

    EDIT: Have listened to the solo a couple of times. I suppose it easily could be a Les Paul, I'd say most definitely a solid body guitar. Perhaps we'll be surprised to find out it was the Explorer or a Tele...

    or the SG ...but most likely not. God I wish he would use that guitar more!!!



  8. Not so much. Unsure for certain, as I wasn't there when the recorded version was made but seems like Casino and Telecaster on a lot of the new tunes.

    ...that said the only thing that seemed to have a Stratocaster on it was the studio couch!
  10. Hey, I know this is not U2 related, but as everyone seems to love the epiphone casinos, what is the guitar that John Lennon played on the rooftop?? I always thought it was a casino, but I am not so sure anymore.

    Indeed it was a Casino. If memory serves me correctly, in 1965 ('66? ) the Fab Four picked up three new suburst Epiphone Casinos. John and Paul used them extensively throughout the remainder of the Beatles recordings, Harrison used his but was also partial to his Les Paul (Lucy) and assorted Strats and Teles.

    The solo on "Taxman" is Paul on his Casino, "Sgt. Pepper" is a Casino, the fast version of "Revolution" is John on the same Casino he used for the Rooftop.

    In '67 or '68 I believe, John sanded down his guitar to remove the lovely sunburst finish .



    However, the "Revolution" style Casino has become an iconic axe in its own right. I know Gem Archer and Noel Gallagher of Oasis have used that kind for assorted recordings and live performances. (Anyone know any others?)

  12. Anyone else reckon Stand Up Comedy sounds like it might be a Rickenbacker song? Possibly even the 6 string Dallas was said to have bought? And it sounds like the Zvex Fuzz Factory might make an appearance at 2:47-2:55, or maybe just the Supersonic Fuzz Gun? (Sorry if anyone's asked those before )

    Good to see alot of love for the Casino lately, such beautiful guitars
