Not 100% sure of WHICH Tele is in the new video. I don't think it's the 40th Anniversary Tele (usually used for Sunday Bloody Sunday). In the new U2.com video, it looks 'whiter' than the 'Vertigo' blonde 1966 Telecaster... perhaps it's the one from the Linear video? Not sure yet.

Dallas needs to share those pictures/video he was taking!
Yes, the Gretsch sounds great for sure (one of my all time favorite guitars!!), but I still think that it lacks power somehow. Magnificent needs a more rough and strong sound (maybe the solo is the only part when a hollow will be better than a solid, but...), and the Tele can provide it I think.
  2. Day 16 countdown video at U2.com shows Adam's hands up close, playing "Beautiful Day".

    http://www.u2.com/soundandvision/index/videos/setId/37/type/video/

He's playing the gold sparkle Fender Jazz that was used at the Wash DC inaugural show.

Also, in the background there are some other of Adam's bass guitars. There is a dark brown wood one... looks to be a Warwick of some model.

Also looks like there is a red Jazz or Precision bass back there.

I am convinced Adam won lotto. Or beat Bono at chess and the prize was TONS of new bass gear.
  3. I had seen the video already. Such a gorgeous bass-line that Beautiful Day has got
And indeed Adam seems to have tons of new equipment, some of which I'm dying to hear live!!!!
  4. I've heard and read a few ask: What guitar was BOOTS written on?

No one can say for certain. The first 'seed' of the song could have been written on an acoustic - at home.

"It Might Get Loud" will give some clues at what 'might' be on the album/single version. There are a few different clips of The Edge working on the tune at HQ. In a couple, he's playing the `66 Gibson SG (usually used for "Elevation" and in another clip, he's playing a Gretsch Country Gentleman.

Does that mean that one or the both are on the final product? Does this mean that there is little to NO Telecaster on the final product? No, not at all. But it is entirely possible that there is more than one guitar on the track and the SG and the Country Gent could have played a part; judging by the footage in "It Might Get Loud".
  5. I'd love seeing Edge using the gorgeous SG in more songs than Elevation. Not probable, though

I guess every one of us has a fav guitar that he'd love Edge to play more often. But c'mon, does anyone really think that each song desperately demands a different guitar, and that only this one guitar is able to capture the "right" sound and feeling? Not only a lot of U2 cover bands achieve great results with less guitars, but even Edge himself proved the opposite - through the years he played a lot of songs on different guitars, and usually the results sounded fabulous. This seems quite logical considering that all of his guitars are great pieces of workmanship, he doesn't get supplied with cheapo cripple crappies. But on gigs he has decided to change guitars for every song; it's part of the show. It will be the same on the next tour. Everything else would be a complete surprise.

Just my 0,02$, as always. Peace and Love

  7. I've just bought an acoustic guitar
  8. Good thing Yuri. You were the one who asked in this thread some months ago for some basic guitar advices, weren't you? You'll love it when you know how to play, it's addicting and you'll soon crave for more and more songs to learn. Be careful, you can become a guitar addicted easily. And I talk from the experience

Well it took me 2 minutes to understand tabs, now I'm trying to play them correctly.
  10. Good thing And good luck

    ---

By the way, I've wondered this a lot of times.

Edge plays UTEOTW live with a capo on the third fret, doesn't he? Well, I have my guitar tuned standard, eBGDAE, and I play in tune to the song with capo on second!! Is his Les Paul tuned 1/2 step down (Eb) or what?? Because the song is in F#, not in G, I can swear that!

Just a bit of rambling, sorry and thanks in advance

  11. Haven't played mine in months.

But I have a cheap semiacoustic (GFS equipped) standing around that I play a lot. Either plugged or acoustic.
