1. That is the "white" one...the sister guitar to the one he gave away on the charity thing.
  2. Anyone catch Glastonbury coverage? Some interesting stuff doing the rounds these days...

...caught a bit of Jack White's band Dead Weather (I couldn't sing and drum like he does lol, then again I'm not a drummer...), very funky (interesting collection of guitars doing the rounds); was impressed with Doves and White Lies (who put together a pretty cool cover of Dancing In The Dark - can't wait to see The Boss play on Sunday!); there seems to be a thing about Telecasters these days though, most of the musical world seems to be playing them....
  3. Edge's rig will be harder to decipher... ...as seen in the U2.com countdown footage... The Edge's gear will be a bit harder to decipher during the up-coming tour as the rack will not be on stage - it will be in the underworld.

Being that there is a circle catwalk and The Edge will be more mobile... it is also likely that that Dallas will be changing programs more often than in the past.

The shows will still be amazing. But I know that many fellow Edge-fans are a little sad that they will not be able to read the settings on the rack this tour.

    C'est la vie.

Telecaster is one of the tried and true guitars. Loads of good tones in them straight away. More so with a Custom (humbucker in the neck).

Dead Weather album comes out Monday in the UK and Tuesday in the US. I've alread pre-ordered the vinyl from Jack's label, Third Man Records as well as digital album from iTunes.

  5. Here's the interesting thing... there were TWO Les Paul Customs. One had black knobs and one had gold. The one with gold was auctioned.

Could they have popped gold knobs on the one that had black? Maybe but I've compared my pictures that I took last year, when it was on display at guitar center, with tour pictures so it DOES appear that they one with gold knobs to begin with -the 1975 - was the one that was auctioned.

Here's the rub. That travelling guitar display was at the Hollywood store this weekend. The two guitars of Clapton's and Stevie Rah Vaughn's Strat were there but NOT Edge's Les Paul.

Perhaps EDGE bid on and won his own guitar. Perhaps he loaned it to Guitar Center for the travelling guitar show last year. Perhaps he has it back now? Perhaps THAT is the white LP in the background of the earlier photo that was posted of Edge playing the MR Les Paul?

    Perhaps.
  6. Catching a few clips of the rehearsals from Barca, couple of things have come to my attention -

    a) SBS has been moved up a notch to Am from Abm of recent years
    b) Mysterious Ways sounds like it's just being played on an acoustic but still possibly through the same setup? i.e. the only change is the guitar itself and a small change in how Edge plays the middle 8
    c) Ultra Violet has been moved up to E from its traditional Eb of the good old ZooTV days, not to mention the way Edge plays the intro. - still sounds like he's playing through the Explorer.
    d) MoS is in Abm, as opposed to Am on the album.

Anyone else made any observations (assuming you're not denying yourselves the luxury of any previews?) re. the rehearsals? Obviously it's difficult to make anything substantial based on sound alone but it isn't impossible
  7. What guitar has Edge been seen playing Mysterious Ways at rehearsals?

  8. I can't comment on any actual sightings but if you listen/watch any of the clips, I'm 99% certain it's an acoustic. I've just wondered whether he could be playing a Variax, but during the middle 8 you can clearly hear he's moved the solo bit down the fret-board and to the lower (bass) strings, but I also wondered whether I could hear a bit of the MW sound coming from the guitar, so I'm in two minds. All I can be certain of is that there's no Rick. to be heard whatsoever.

    EDIT -
  9. Oh HELL yeah! A lovely tobacco Gretsch Double Anniversary. Look to be similar if not THE one from the "Please" video.

Still trying to decipher what acoustic 12-string that is being used. It appears "Martin" like... but I am not 100% sure. Anyone have a good piccy a bit more up close - with the headstock?

Maybe Edge is playing Mysterious Ways on the 12-string acoustic in the picture I posted? Pictured at the right in the pic?

actually SBS was played in Am on the vertigo tour.
