    Edge is using the 1962 Stratocaster (tobacco finish) for SBS and Pride. I think it is the one used for I Still Haven't Found... during Popmart. But notice he's using one of the black and white Strats for ISHFWILF this tour.

    What tuning is said tobacco 1962 Strat? I will have to check the video and toy around with it at home later.

    The Tobacco finish Strat. is tuned a whole step down (not two steps like I said originally lol), e.g. SBS is in Am these days, whilst Pride is in A (which carries on into MLK) and Edge hasn't changed the way he plays either - why he would in the first place is beyond me lol. I didn't see what he's using for ISHFWILF but I'll take your word for it - it's still in Bb as it was on Vertigo so I'm guessing it's still capo on 2nd fret

    It is a WARWICK Stryker. Nice bass, eh?
  5. I just ordered a used Gibson BFG in red. Cheap but needs a complete rewiring. Guess I'll try a Duncan P- Rails in the bridge position. Ah, the feeling to work on a guitar again... can't wait to have it here.

  6. And for todays' installment of "Jeff geeks out about guitars"...

    Seems Edge has (2) Country Gents this tour. Seems the 1963 is still out there. I have to double check the video clips but I think that is the one being used for Magnificent.

    The 1963 Country Gent used for COBL during Vertigo had (2) FilterTron p'ups.



    There is another - Looks to be a 1964-1966 era Gretsch Country Gent, judging by the SuperTron pickup in the neck position.



    SuperTrons are similar to FilterTrons but are a bit 'hotter'. Would make sense to use them on COBL this tour. Slide bits might stand out a lot more with that. (Although there are slide bits in "Magnificent")

    I received it yesterday and stripped it down completely. Has got some dings and dongs, but it'll make a great guitar. Now I wait for some spare parts to appear here.

    Meh. I'm always hesitant about guitars with fancy paint jobs like that, because they either look cheap, or some kind of toy, or like they belong to a teenaged girl pop star where the fancy looking guitar is thrown into her hands because she looks good with it.

    The only exception for me when it comes to strange finishes, is the Hendrix Monterey Strat finish.

  10. The Hendrix guitar is cool. about 10 years or so ago, Fender made some reissues of that guitar. Very cool.

    Not all paint jobs are bad.

    True that some paint jobs can come off cheap or amature but this one is great, in my view.

  11. The guitar paint job looks cheap enough, but the pink waistcoat hurts my eyes.

    On topic about bad looking guitars: I rewired and reassembled my red Gibson BFG. Les Paul standard wiring, 4 gold plastic poti knobs, gold toggle, black rhythm/treble plate, gold humbucker frame, black P-90 cap, black backplates. The only thing still missing is the black P-Rails for bridge position, though the push/pull for coil split is already prepared. Right now the stock zebra Burstbucker will have to do. It's already an axe to enjoy - rocks like heaven.
