    Try the Herco 75's. Dunlop makes them now. They come in packages of 10-12. They are cheaper than the Herdim's and more easily available.

    Although, the Herco's are thicker than the Herdim.
  2. wow, I envy all your knowledge about edge's guitars
    I once tried to list the guitars he plays for certain songs,
    but then I got lost at some point and duh... just too many different kinds for a n00b like me

    oh well, I'm just going to follow your discussions and try to keep something in mind!

    Exactly. I dont' know everything. I don't think I am 'the expert'. I just have been asking qustions foar a bit longer perhaps.

    And as I've said, I learn from all o f the questions that I get asked so in that... fire away!

  6. THE FACTS ABOUT "MYSTERIOUS WAYS" AND THE EDGE USING THE 1966 MAPLEGLO FINISH RICKENBACKER.

    Early on in the tour it was tunend to E-Flat. I tested this when I got home. I picked up my Clapton Strat, which I keep in E-flat, and played along to the YouTube clip of "Mysterious Ways" from Chicago in the Spring of 2005.


    It was also played in E-flat during the 2nd leg of the tour, as evidenced by the Croke Park footage.


    This also confirms what Dallas told me about the two different Rics being used.

    BUT that later change in the tour as I found by watching the November 2005 clip from Atlanta. In that clip (link below) The Edge's 1966 Mapleglo Ric was tuned to standard tuning / "E".


    Australia on the last leg, was in Standard E/tuning:


    Closing night in Hawaii was also in standard tuning.




    So why would he continue to use two different Rics once he'd gone to playing "MYSTERIOUS WAYS" in standard / E tuning? Why not as he's already been playing that guitar for the tune during the tour.

    The first topics title was aimed at Edge's guitars. The topic grew into some general guitar/gear questions. It also began to cover gear used by some other bands.

    As I was answering many folks questions, someone suggested that I open a Q&A topic.

    So for this topic, it is U2 gear (Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry) or any other gear related questions and such.

    My apologies to REMY or the moderators if I did the wrong thing by starting this topic. I did so as a few other suggested.
  8. And there is plenty of 'love' for bass players. I will answer any questions that I know the answer and research those that I don't. It helps me learn more and it's fun for me. (and cheaper than stamp collecting)
  9. This isn't really a question... (great way to start off this post...) but what the hey? I thought that Edge purchased his Yellow & Black LP right after The JT release... So why is it in this video from 82'? Hey, it is a question after all! Okay.. too excited... bring it down now.... thats better.

  10. As you said bass...I am almost 100% sure that that golden bass of Adam is not an original fender color. I have my doubts about the green too. They don't look vintage at all. ANy clues?

    I like the green one the most! (I could care less weather or not an instrument is 'vintage'...)

    I like it too, specially because of the damaged paintjob and the original neck. It is my favorite.
