1. While Edge is known for using vintage gear, these day, many items he uses were new and state of the art when he got them.

The Korg A3 was relatively new when he got it and began using it for Achtung Baby (and Zooropa). The Korg SDD-3000 was a fairly new item when he started using it. His 1976 Gibson Explorer was a mere 2 years old when he bought it... and his original "Blackie" Strat was off the shelf and only a few years old when he bought that.

Edge does use vintage gear but it wasn't necessarily 'vintage' when he first got it.

Case in point... The Line 6 distortion modeler. A fairly new item that he went as far as to have Line 6 make a rack mount version for him. And his use of the Line 6 Variax 700 modeling acoustic assuredly help sell more of them for Line 6 (for those not in the know, the Variax 700 being the guitars used for "The Fly" and "Love and Peace" during the Vertigo tour.

So what might Edge look in to using? I am sure we could all make a laundry list. But after seeing Muse's HAARP DVD... Manson guitars might be a place to look.

They make some interesting things and make them to order. Matt Bellamy has various effects built into his Manson guitars.

Like the Kaoss Pad on a few:

What's a Kaoss Pad? Follow the link for a bit more:

Bellamy also has Z-Vex Fuzz Factory fuzz effects built into some of his guitars.

Not saying that Edge should copy the models that Bellamy has... although I am sure Edge could make interesting use of many of Bellamy's models... but Manson could build some interesting tone crazy goodness for The Edge too.

Now what DID I do with Dallas' phone number...

    That's very true
  3. How silly doeas a guitar with a "screen" on the wood looks?
That may be innovative and stuff, but it wouldn't play it if it was given to me for free.

I would play it! It's a Korg Kaoss Pad. You can do some tricked out stuff with those! I left links on the previous post to Korg's site and a vendor site showing some of what a Kaoss Pad can do.

Although, I have to admit, that Matt Bellamy - in that one picture - looks like he's having an aneurysm playing that particular chord.

(Don't get me wrong, I think he's fantastic!)

Recommended listening? HAARP (DVD / CD) live from Wembley. Good stuff.

  5. So a few have PM'ed and said: You play guitar... let's hear it. So if you want... you can hear some demo's of tunes I wrote at:

    www.myspace.com/fact23

They are not complete recordings... just guitars, no drums or vocals but enough to get the idea of the tunes.

If I recall right it's from Dublin 24th June 2005. Great concert it was, a friend of mine was there and cried when Wild Horses began :
  8. Jeff, quick question - I found this picture on the bootlegs section from the New York MSG show on 10-10-2005, and assuming it is a picture (albeit pastelled), you any idea what song that would be a shot from? Here's the setlist for reference.

The cover belongs to the show of October 10th and you linked to the setlist of October 14th. That makes no sense, or am I losing some part of the game?

Cool picture. But are we sure that the PICTURE was from the 10/10/2005 show?

That said, the 1983 Gibson 30th Anniversary Les Paul Standard (Gold Top) has mostly been used for ONLY "Until The End Of The World" during the Elevation and Vertigo tours. It was used for a few more during Popmart - "Hold Me, Kill Me..." pops into mind.

The curious bit about the picture? No capo at the 3rd fret - which would normally be present for "Until The End Of The World".

    Curious... hmmmm...

Maybe he used it for a song that he normally use one of the Les Paul Customs? I am not sure. I'd like to see video from that show, if indeed that was the show the picture was taken.
