  3. It is his music rising LP.

    Anyone else think he should use mandolins, dobros, banjos, and pedal steels? (I know he has used all of these at least once, but more regularly) I mean they did do some eagles covers in the early days.

    While Edge has a couple of the Mardi Gras finish Gibson Music Rising Les Pauls, the one in the picture you posted is not one of them.

    That is not HIS Music Rising, it is A Music Rising.

    That was when they launched the Gibson Music Rising Les Paul Standards (in Mardi Gras finishes) at the Guitar Center in Hollywood. Edge appeared and signed X amount of them. Guitar Center then had a picture of Edge holding and another of him signing, each of the MR Les Pauls that he signed. The photo was taken in the vintage room at Guitar Center Hollywood.

    Well from the sound of things, there will be some pedal steel and perhaps some mandolin too. I'd posted a piccy of Edge playing an Ovation Mandolin, whilst in Morocco...



    ...And from the footage from Morocco that I have on Lanois' "Here Is What Is" DVD, Danny was playing some pedal steel on some of the tunes.

    Also judging from the Morocco footage and the snippets on U2.com... I wouldn't hold my breath for an "Eagles" like material.

    I own one of the black Epiphone Music Rising Les Paul's. Gorgeous guitar. While the Gibson Mardi Gras finish M.R. Les Paul might be better made... I like the look of the Epiphone.

    I saw all of the Gibson MR's when they were on Guitar Center's site... SOME of them were gorgeous. Edge picked out a few winners. But some were BUTT UGLY.

    I did see a used Gibson M.R., unsigned, at Guitar Center a few mos back. Sadly, by the time I had $3K, it was gone. (FECK!)

    They did also have a signed one for around $12K
  10. And the cool thing about the Epiphone Music Rising, all the money goes to Music Rising. So essentially, it giving Music Rising a $600.00 donation and getting a "gift" of a guitar... and since it was through Musicians Friend... tax free AND shipping was free.

    yeah, the whole music rising thing is really great if I could play the guitar and had the money I'd get one of those beauties... but I can't, so I could only buy the t-shirt haha.

    So it appears that it is INDEED from the October 10th 2005 show.

    Judging by the headset microphone... Most likely he's playing ZOO STATION with the Gold Top. (Hence, showing my theory that he might be using that in lieu of one of the LP Customs normally used on a tune)

    Great stuff Jeff thanks for that. Judging by the 2nd pic, I'd say it definitely is ZS judging by where his fingers are fret-wise. Seems strange to change from the '75 to the '83 but who knows - I haven't listened to any of the MSG shows yet, perhaps they played ZS in A rather than Ab? Obviously, I'm guessing he may have duplicate models but since they play UTEOTW in G and Edge uses the Goldtop, perhaps they tried to play ZS up a key? If that is the case, it was an experiment that didn't last long because I'm fairly sure they played ZS in Ab again on the South American leg (from watching videos of the Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo gigs on YouTube).

    Do you know if Edge has more than one Goldtop, each in different tunings?

    PS - another thing, do you know if there are still any Music Rising LPs around? I know there were limited edition versions but I can't remember whether that was Gibson and/or Epiphone models - either way I'd love to get one but only if the proceeds would still find their way towards M.R., i.e. I wouldn't be interested in getting one from eBay at a cut price if the money was gonna go straight to a single person.
