I am quite sure this is not about sound. I am certain that Adam didn't come up with this signature model because of the sound either. It is all about looking cool. Also, if the guy has the money, why not? But I agree with you, there are many better ways to spend 5000 dollars.

True, it's about the whole "adam" look. But yeah, there are WAY better ways to spend it.
  3. is there anything out there for guitar effects systems than can save a shit load of customized settings?
cuz the Me70 only has 36 memory slots, but u need like 4 for a song usually so atm i can only have presests for 9 songs

First he got one of his Precision's refinished in lavendar sparkle like Adam's and NOW... he's got a Warwick Reverso like Adam's. Now THAT my friends, is Tribute-Adam dedication!

Your talking about a totally different model. The Starbass is a hollowbody.

No. I'm talking about the Reverso and Scott from Joshua Tree bought one.

It's inaccurate stating is isn't about sound or is about look only.

He liked the Stryker after seeing/hearing some footage of The Who. (This per a conversation I had with and aritist rep at Warwick).

John Entwistle of The Who used Buzzards and Strykers.

Adam bought one of each - both black. Both seen in the U2.com videos that were posted near the end of the NLOTH sessions.

As the tour drew closer, Adam went to Warwick and worked with them on developing the Reverso. Which is why there were various versions on the tour. Ultimately setting on a single pickup version that is the production model.

Do you need a Warwick Reverso to sound like Adam? NO. You can do much of what Adam does on a Precision and Jazz bass.

I don't think one HAS to have a Mercedes or BMW. They are fine cars but do you HAVE to have one? No. But if you like it and can afford it - why not. Same with the Reverso. Nothing wrong with buying it if you want and have the means to do so?

  6. I am 100% sure that if he had only heard the performance he wouldn't bother even to find out know what bass that was. If the guy has the money and likes it, ok, go buy it, but don't tell me that it is because of the sound, because it is not.

True I guess. I mean if I was living on my own and I had a mortgage to pay off and all that jazz, I wouldn't be spending that much on a guitar, but I don't know this guys financial state. Right now, I'm only 18 (soon 19) and still living with my parents, using my part time job money to do what I want with. Right now I'm saving up for a John Mayer strat, so I geuss it's the same idea. Even probably dumber actually, seeing as how I already have an american strat, but there are reasons why both would be handy, and why I'm buying the John Mayer strat.

BEFORE buying the JOHN MAYER Stratocaster... Check out the ERIC JOHNSON Stratocaster. They Mayer may be fine. But you might find the Eric Johnson that much better.

  9. And i was talking about the Starbass II not the Stryker. The Stryker is ugly, wait till you see the custom Starbass.

I haven't actually tried either of them, i've never actually seen them in any local music store so it's difficult to try, but I've actually seen comparisons online and apparently the Mayer "schools" (directly quoted) the EJ strat. Apparently everything from the silky african rosewood (apparetly bends above the 12th fret are dead, but that comes with the vintage wood neck) and the big dipper pickups make it amazing. It'd be great to do a comparison myself, but like I said, kind of impossible.
