1. Thanks for the feedback guys. One reason why I'm still interested in trying it is the fact that it cost only a little bit more than a really long cable. As for the feedback, that would be a plus for me. I hate any feedback, so the suppressor sounds great. As for tone loss... most of my tone comes from the effect processor, so I'm not too worried about that. Even if it is lost from the guitar, I could just add the humbucker effect thing on the effect processor for my Epiphone (the only guitar that I own with a descent sound).

They list for $499 but can be found cheaper new and used on ebay. I think I paid... $415-ish for mine (new).

But if the Boss unit sounds good to you and you find it fits your needs that there is nothing wrong with that.

Well, I had a look into the Line 6 M13, and it looks like this really would be a great addition to my sound!! So, thanks for the tip, since I already have a Boss ME-50, I might as well try a different brand.

Though, I have some questions for you all.

First, I found that a lot of people on the internet talk about Edge's shimmer effect.
What does this exactly mean, and in which song can I hear this best?

Next, does anyone have any experience with the POG or MICRO POG??

And, last, does the Line 6 M13 give me the chance to save sounds and use them later...like the Boss boxes do?

    Thanks!

    Mike

I've found the M13 to be the best, particularly for U2 songs, when it comes to the portable multi-effect pedalboards.

  5. +1 I own an M13 and love it, great tones.

  6. Not necessarily. I used to own a tonelab and I loved that too, it was also great for u2 tones. Most fx units can get the job done (to an extent), Edge's sound basically consists of a light compression, a low amount of overdrive, and delay. Sure you can be a purist and add on a bunch ofthings, as well as specific gear that gets his TRUE sound, but in the end, if you want Edge's signature tone you only need those three things.

  8. Not sure if what Andrew's looking for is perhaps the same thing I am...but I'm trying to build a sound on my multi that'll be suitable for "Mysterious Ways"...particularly the Vertigo Tour performances of the song (the Chicago DVD's MW sound is just awesome)

Anyone know what I can do/what effects to chain in to get close to that?

There is 'almost' nothing but a Korg A3 that can get that "Mysterious Ways" tone.

I've heard others and seen YouTube clips of folks claiming "look, Mysterious Ways without an A3" and invariably, the tone is not close.

Only other thing that I've heard that is in the neighborhood - sonically - is the DB-1 DiscomBOBulator Autowah. But you will hear that it's still doesn't quite get the right 'growl' or depth.

Which by the way, the DB-1 DiscomBOBulator seems to have been discontinued.
