    Very true. And yeah, a lot of guys in tributes use the axe fx. I would buy it with the idea in mind of starting a tribute band, which is what I want to do now. But I guess it would only be smart to wait until that happens to even consider spending that much money. And its true about the guitars, but the guitars I have in mind are just as much (sweet sweet rickenbacker) but then, there's always ebay. Surprisingly i've never ever seen an axe-fx on ebay.

    Ultimately it would be stupid to buy the axe fx for tinkering around in my basement (what i do now). Might as well stick with the m13 until I can try to get this tribute band up and running! Then who knows

    Natually! A Korg A3 is fairly cheap and who doesn't want to do Edge's funky foot shuffle dance while playing Mysterious Ways in their basement/bedroom and/or garage?

    True true!!! I've just been researching and asking some poeple about how it would work with the M13. I've considered using the Latch mode through MIDI to control the presets on the A3 (with the M13 working as a makeshift MIDI controller) and I've also considered just running it in the effects loop, or even just running it after the m13 in the effects chain. The main thing I'm trying to achieve is, being able to essentially select a scene that's for the A3. I don't necessarily need to be able to control the A3, seeing as how I'll mostly just be using it for the MW sound (yes, it is worth the 1 sound ).

    The main problem it seems is having the A3 in bypass while i'm using other scenes. How does the external effect loop work? Is there some effect setting that's made for external effect loop pedals? (I haven't checked) Or is it always in the effects loop?

    But the ultimate goal would be being able to control the A3 using the M13. Say, going from the MW sound to the Numb sound without touching the A3 itself. THAT would be killer. Not sure if it can be done though...Having the A3 being controlled by the M13, AND being able to go into bypass while not using it and using hte M13 scenes alone. The only solution I can think of is creating a preset on the A3 that I can select from the M13 (if I was to use this method) which is just a makeshift bypass setting, that way it will still be active, but won't be creating any noise.

    This is all probably very confusing, I'll be surprised and happy if you can translate it into sense anstratdubh. This was more of a "what's on my mind" rant than an actual gear question, but if you have the resources to answer it (if anyone does) i'd be supremely happy.

  5. Very cool, right sound, right pedal, but I do'nt think that's how Edge does it. I think what Edge does is set the pedal in "oscillation" mode, so when he plays the chord and rolls up the volume (or tone?) knob it "oscillates" creating that feedbacky siren sound. If you can find a video of Edge opening up that sound for Vertigo, you can see him play the chord on his country gent (from COBL) and roll up the knob, then while the sound is still going he quickly switches to the tele.

    The video link you put is fine to start the sound. That was how I did it too but didn't have the video on for that. That was the bit most of us already knew. What I was showing and hence the video was the pitch shift that Edge did later in the tour.

    Early in the tour it was just getting the one upward siren. And Edge did that like the video you put up.

    ALSO... you don't roll the volume up, you actually roll it down (off), the crunch disappears and you are left with the oscillation that makes the siren.

    Later in the tour, when he began having the siren go up and down in pitch, like the Pasadena DVD, there is more to the sound. It isn't just the initial upware pitch of the siren. It modulates up and down (like the DVD). That was what I was showing - What (presumeably) Dallas is doing underneath the stage once the siren goes starts.

    I'm thinking of picking one of these up, pretty much for the sole purpose of trying to nail Streets for our band.



    Here's pretty much why-

    1) I would go with the TC Nova Repeater, but this is more than half the price and I'll be going away to college in just over a month from now...I don't need to spend close to $200 on something I'll rarely be using until next summer.

    2) I know I probably would get more diversity out of the TC Nova, or even the Line 6 Echo Park unit (which I seriously considered for awhile), but I'll literally be using this pedal solely for Streets. I have the Digitech RP-250 (a slightly older model of it though) multi-effect processor, and I can get a pretty precise delay for most of the other songs through that....Streets is the only one that I cannot- for the LIFE of me- seem to generate through that pedal. (If anyone has any ideas for that, btw, please let me know...I'd rather get it through the RP-250 and not have to spend $60 to play one song)
  10. Also, I've found some "patches" for the (I believe current) RP-250, that have sounds like "The Fly" and "Streets" already made up...but how can I download those and get them loaded onto the pedal? I don't think there's a sound-card that's removable....am I just shit-outta-luck in that aspect?

    Don't know of any pedal that will download sounds.

    As for the delay for "...Streets...", you should be able to dial that in easily enough.


  12. With the processor I already have or with the addition of the DigiDelay?

    And I read more into it; Digitech's multi-effect units come equipped with USB ports now, and Digitech has free downloadable software called X-Edit or something...once you have that, you can download patches, queue them in the software, hook up your pedal, and literally transfer the sound and overwrite a preset on the pedal.
