1. I asked about it in U2 Recording Group too. So maybe someone has decoded that one. I will try to work on it too. Does sound to be a broken fuzz kind of thing. EQ and filtering could be part of the ingredients.

I like a challenge. I will see if I can figure some of this out. I have always that tone.
  2. Someone mention U2 by U2 mentioning a gated effect on "Somedays...".

Only mention of gated effect in U2 by U2 in the Zooropa section, that I found, was in regards to "Lemon". Near bottom of page 249 (Of the larger first edition)
  3. Sorry I meant a gated effect on Numb but I checked it and yeh it's not Numb, I knew I saw it somewhere though, must have been Lemon

"Numb" is a flanger. Might be a gated effect too. The tone is in the Korg A3 SPC-01 card.
  5. Thinking about putting a pair of P94's in my LP custom to replace the stock epi pickups. I've always preferred P90's to humbuckers, and these are essentially humbucker sized P90's, so I'm seriously considering it. Anybody had any experience? I've read that they totally rock.

  6. P-90's are humbucker size. They are also single coil pickups. I think that the P-94's are single coil also. They won't sound as dark and rich as a humbucker but the P-90 sound (and assuming it's upgraded P-94 counterpart) do offer some great tones. Think "Billie Joe" from Green Day. And that ain't a bad thing

I believe P90's are a bit smaller, which is why a lot of guys buy the 56 epi goldtops, then they have to rout the wood a bit to fit humbuckers in.

"The P-94 is a unique combination that provides the best of both worlds - the classic Gibson P-90 sound in a traditional humbucker-size housing. Replacing a humbucker with the P-94 requires no routing or other damaging modifications to the guitar. "

But yeah P90's are awesome. I used to own a les paul that had them in (can't remember the model or the brand) and I loved em'. They're basically like a humbucker and a strat single coil put together, at least that's how I hear em'. Excited to get them!
  8. Looks like the new Line HD 500 is an M13 on steroids. At $500.00, this will make the M13 obsolete. I imagine the price will go down on the M13.

Don't get me wrong, the M13 is great. But the HD 500 has amp sims, you can move the effects around to various orders, the chips are upgraded and loads more. I'm gonna have to look into this a bit more but I might have to get one of these.

  9. Can anyone help me to get u2´s disappearing act chords? it´s tough, it´s knowhere....
  10. We have two things called ears, we don't need Google

    Give me some minutes!
  11. Intro is:
    A#... F... Cm
    A#... F... F.......

then (00:27) changes to a slide progression of:
    Gm... F... Gm... F

then (00:45) first chorus (You do your disappearing act) goes like:
    Eb... A#... F... Cm...
    Eb... A#... F... Cm...

    Verses (00:55) are:
Gm... Gm... (F)... Gm... Gm... (F)...

Then (1:21) goes to the intro again:
    A#... F... Cm... A#...
    A#... F... Cm...

then (1:53) goes to the bridge (and You think that you can love), which is:
Eb-Gm... F... Eb-Gm... F --> that means that Eb quickly changes to Gm and the quickly goes to F

and then back to the verses:
    Gm... F... Gm... F

until 2:25, when You do your disappearing act comes back, and then (2:36) verses come back too. Then (2:53) intro comes back. And in 3:26 the You think that you can love comes back.

Oh, the piano break/outtro has the same chords as the verses.

This song is pretty easy, just mess around with the basic A# structures and its "associated chords" (F, Eb, Cm, Gm, Dm not included)
