I won't be able to play enough in the next 3 years to justify going all out on a nicer amp. When I have a real job, and will be able to finance such a purchase, I can "solidify" my gear and settle in with things I'd like. But right now it's worth having something smaller and a tad cheaper to be able to play the bit that I can on.

Go for the ZT. The ZT sounds almost as good as tube amp in most respects, and it's probably better than the Fender Solid state you have. Plus, once you do start growing into better gear, the ZT will still be good enough to hang around with the big boys. I love my ZT, i'll probably never sell it.
  2. Good to see edge is using his red rickenbacker again! On EBTTRT in Argentina! I like the wooden one he is using on MW, but the sunburst is just B-E-A-UTIFUL
  3. Fireglo Rickenbacker >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Wood finish Rickenbacker

    It's thousands better looking

  4. Concur x 1000. If they weren't going £1500+ brand new, I'd be getting one tomorrow. In theory anyway...
  5. Just want to say that I love my fireglo

  6. Lmao Matt. Fair point fair point...

But seriously, if you guys have the money I highly recommend this axe. Mine is a 6 sting, not a 12 (like Edge's). It honestly sounds great playing everything, it plays really well, and it's probably my favourite guitar. It has such a unique sound and look, there's really nothing else like it.

Not trying to rub it in, just saying, if you guys see one for a good price and you have the means, I suggest trying it out. You can always sell it back if you don't like it too.
  7. Looks like an axe that would look great with some natural wear on the top (where the red is really red), just barely worn, showing the wood...Would love a vintage-looking model of this one. Alex, yours is a beauty in all honesty.

And does that mean that Edge plays EBTTRT on 12 strings?
  8. Yep, Edge's Rickenbacker(s) is/are 12 strings. Doesn't sound like it, though.
  9. Matt, yeah man it'll look good in 20 years! And thanks!

And Sergio, you can definitely tell. At first I thought "When I hear Real Thing it just sounds like a 6 string Ricky, so I'm sure it'll sound like that when I get my 6 sting". But no, the 6 string and 12 string ricky's sound NOTHING alike. The 12 string has that chimey Edge sound right out of the box. The 6 string sounds totally different. Even Gone sounds different on the 6 string. Trust me, when you play Real Thing on a 12 string, it SOUNDS like Real Thing. All of the tone in that song is just the 12 string ricky with a tiny bit of delay and a tiny bit of overdrive. The rest is all Ricky.
  10. I meant that it doesn't have the caracteristic 12-s sound we all are used too (with lots of chorus, harmonics and natural reverb). It has its definitively own sound, hardly achievable with anything else than another identical guitar - and I wouldn't ever deny that. But whoever listens to MW or EBTTRT doesn't think "Oh, that's a 12 string!"... IMO
