1. Looks like an axe that would look great with some natural wear on the top (where the red is really red), just barely worn, showing the wood...Would love a vintage-looking model of this one. Alex, yours is a beauty in all honesty.

And does that mean that Edge plays EBTTRT on 12 strings?
  2. Yep, Edge's Rickenbacker(s) is/are 12 strings. Doesn't sound like it, though.
  3. Matt, yeah man it'll look good in 20 years! And thanks!

And Sergio, you can definitely tell. At first I thought "When I hear Real Thing it just sounds like a 6 string Ricky, so I'm sure it'll sound like that when I get my 6 sting". But no, the 6 string and 12 string ricky's sound NOTHING alike. The 12 string has that chimey Edge sound right out of the box. The 6 string sounds totally different. Even Gone sounds different on the 6 string. Trust me, when you play Real Thing on a 12 string, it SOUNDS like Real Thing. All of the tone in that song is just the 12 string ricky with a tiny bit of delay and a tiny bit of overdrive. The rest is all Ricky.
  4. I meant that it doesn't have the caracteristic 12-s sound we all are used too (with lots of chorus, harmonics and natural reverb). It has its definitively own sound, hardly achievable with anything else than another identical guitar - and I wouldn't ever deny that. But whoever listens to MW or EBTTRT doesn't think "Oh, that's a 12 string!"... IMO

OOOOOOH. My bad, I thought you meant the reverse! Yeah completely agree.

  6. Dallas bought him a few 6-string Ric's from Chicago Guitar Exchange a few years back. But I've not seen him use any of them.

He has a Jet-glo black 330 12-string. I saw Dallas with it during soundcheck at the 4/14/2005 show in Glendale AZ but I've not seen Edge ever play it.

The guitar I am speaking of isn't the Jet-glo black 360 12-string on the Boston DVD.
  7. What's you guys' thoughts on Jazzmasters vs. Tele's?

  8. I know this, and I know that the Tele is more suited to power chords and twang and the Jazz to drone and shoegaze stylings (to say the bare bones least), but I'm wondering which you think would make the better more versatile second guitar to my electric collection.

Right now I have the ES-335, Double Humbuckers.

(though its soon to be painted in scheme with my color aesthetic for iOi)
  9. If you already have a 335, I'd recommend you to get a Tele.

If you'd had a Les Paul, I would have recommended you to get a Tele.

If you'd had a Strat, I would've recommended... hmmm... maybe a Tele would fit then.
