  1. All of this talk of Adam's Candy Apple Red Reverso, after it's unveiling at the show in Mexico City... One can get a Warwick 'Reverso' on a budget... sort of...

    Price for the Made in Korea is $1299.00, instead of $7000.00 on can get a made in Korea Warwick Reverso in Honey Sunburst or in Metallic Gold.

    Adam has a couple of Metallic Gold made in Germany Reverso's. This would be it's more affordable cousin.

    It's not as cheap as a Made In Mexico Fender Jazz bass but this is also a more quality instrument than a Made in Mexico Fender Jazz or... God forbid... Fender Squier Jazz bass.

    So if it is an Adam-like Adam worthy 'Reverso' you want... saving a few $$ and buying the Made in Korea 'Reverso' in Metallic Gold might be the way to go. Just a thought...

  3. The Candy Apple Red is a Custom Shop model and thus far isn't a production model.

    I've heard you can have the Warwick Custom shop build one... the price I heard was in U.S. dollars, was around $8,000 USD.

    BUT, one could also buy the $1,200.00 made in Korea Reverso, swap the pickups out the the Duncan P bass pickups and have it refinished in Candy Apple Red.

    A bit of work and a bit of money, but far cheaper than the Custom Shop.

    If you need the name of a good finish guy, I can recommend a guy in San Diego, CA.

    I play the part of Dallas Schoo for Joshua Tree Tribute in Los Angeles. We use Marty Bell for refinishing.

    Marty refinished a Line 6 Variax 700 acoustic for Chas, in silver sparkle, that The Edge would mistake for his own. Sim.

    Mary also refinished a Fender Precision bass for Joshua Tree bassist Scott Jones in Adam approved lilac purple sparkle. Once again, Adam might mistake it for being his own.

    Marty also refinished my Fernandes black to match Edge's WOWY Fernandes.

    Long story short, if it's a refinish job you want and want it done right... Marty Bell is THE guy.

    Fair enough. I've always been more of a fan of different looking basses (other than that classic fender shape) such as the Rickenbacker basses or even the Schecter basses.

    I do love the look of that reverso though. Not a fan of the gold finish that Adam has used, but I do love the red he just started using, as well as the sunburst of that "knockoff".
  8. Are the warwick basses any good? Are they better than the Fender classics? Why is Adam so into them lately? What about Dean basses, are they a good bass? What should I trade my Squire for that´s affordabl? What´s the next step? I´ve got something like 800 bucks to spend! Thanks

    I don't think Adam would be using them for U2 concerts if they weren't any good, so they must have a good tone - Better than Fender? Probably just different and what he's feeling right now. Probably like asking "What's better, a Strat or a Les Paul?" Too hard a question to answer!

    The theoretical next step from a Squier is a Fender. You could go for a mexican standard Jazz Bass or Precision Bass, or go for a Highway One bass (again, either Jazz or Precision) or full out American standard.

    Seeing as how you have around 800 bucks to spend, if you're looking for the next step after a Squier, i'd say check out the Highway Ones:

    Warwick makes great bass guitars.

    Vintage Fender's are great.

    Dean guitars and bass guitars, are in my view, substandard at best.
