    Ha, I have the same thing, the Epiphone pickups aren't great but I find they're not too bad. Jeff would be the one who'd be most likely to know what the pickups are, but remember it was a proper Gibson.

    I think the Les Paul Custom's had T-Tops, like the Explorer comes with. (500T and 496R ceramic humbucking pickups) But I'd need to verify that. It is possible that Edge had one or both pickups swapped out to Seymour Duncan's on one or both of the LP Customs....

    ...if so, my Slash Les Paul should be able to "ape" the sound as it comes with Seymour Duncan's. (although the model of SD might be different)

    Lindy Fralin makes some good Les Paul replacements. Seth Lover humbuckers are well thought of... (as he pretty much INVENTED the original PAFs)

    Or try Gibson "Burstbuckers". If they are good enough for Jimmy Page... well you get the idea.

    The issues with pickups were regarding one upgrading their Epiphone.

    As for what pickups were in Edge's LP Customs, They were probably the T-Tops that I previously mentioned. There is a chance some alterations could have been made.

    Some of Edge's guitars have been altered. One example being that a few have had the bridge pickups rewound.

    Well, if he's changed the pickups then no, the whole guitar is not composed of its original materials, if that's what you mean, i.e. they're not 100% original Gibson, but of course we're not sure re. his pickups.

  10. Bass players, I changed strings and switched over to DR Sunbeams (the brand Adam uses) yesterday and all I can say is "WOW"! They have an amazing warm tone and feel great. I highly recommend them.

    Yeah. I don't really see the point in having a vintage guitar if you are going to change something as crucial to the sound as the pick ups.

    Unless you change it to vintage pickups! Also, the guitars were built nicer, and they took more time in the actual make of the guitar back then. The feel is nicer on vintage guitars, and they were just made better. So changing the pickups doesn't totally take away from the aspect of a vintage guitar.
