Well, I've contacted the seller of a used one that's a pretty good deal. I hope it hasn't been sold. I wonder if I can wait for another used one to pop up if it's sold.
I also finally got my thumb out of my arse and put my Epiphone Les Paul, that I pretty much haven't used since I got my Sheraton, up for sale.
Which pickups does your Sheraton have? Some Epis (pre-2002 specially) carry real great humbuckers that you might want to swap (maybe not, if you're happy with your Sheraton's or if the Epi's ain't that great).
I would buy it to you if a) I didn't have 8 guitars at home right now, and b) if shipping it to Spain wouldn't mean almost the same price as the guitar itself!!
I believe I was quite lucky to get a buyer so quickly. I actually sold it within 24 hours of putting it up for sale. I've seen some LP Standards be up for sale for months. With Epiphone making LP Standard PROs instead now, I think they've gotten quite hard to sell.
Unfortunately that used Baja I had my eyes on was already sold... I think I'll wait to see if any unwanted Christmas gifts or so pop up, but I did hold one that felt like an especially good one in a store yesterday that I may have to go and buy, even if it's a bit more expensive new. It was in a store that has very good service too, the kind of store you want to buy your guitar in.
I'd been wondering what guitar Bono had in the 'Ordinary Love' video. I contacted the manufacturer, and this was there response.
"Hello,
This is a custom made Center Block Double Cutaway we built specially for Bono, sadly since it is a one of a kind, I do not have any detailed information about it. There may be something related to it coming along soon though."
So perhaps there is a new Bono model on the horizon? Or maybe it's just a custom work for Bono only. Time will tell.
I am looking for a Fernandes Retrorocket Elite and desperately need your help. Currently the Elites are available to an really good price it seems, compared what they cost before. 599USD.
So for me, sent to Germany, it would be 430 Euros + Shipping + tax, so ~600Euros/820USD. Regularly you paid ~1100 Euros here before. I guess thats due to Fernandes' switch to the new series "Retrorocket Elite JP" made in Japan in 2012/13.
Should I consider anything when buying one of those remaining Retrorocket Elites, here from Korea? Anything thats different from other (probably older) Retrorocket Elites? E.g., as far as I know Edge from U2 didnt like the set-neck of the Elites, that why he changed/updated a Retrorocket Pro (dont know which year, probably older) with the bolt-on neck. Afaik Edge had a 2003 Elite and a 2009 Retrorocket Pro built to Elite specs (due to the
bolt-on vs set-neck). But is that really an issue (I dont look for the 100% copy, its more a Quality related question to me)
Example:
Thats one of the current offers, 599 USD, Retrorocket Elite, new:
At least it seems it has the different bolt-on neck, but but eg
no locking mechanic (?). Do you thing spending another 300 Euros would be
worth it to get the 2001 one? I normaly tend to spend extra money for more
vintage guitars, but in this case It would be almost the double price, and I am not sure if it would make sense here. What would you do, jump on a vintage version? Or maybe wait for the JP due to the bolt on neck? Or would you buy one of those 599USD offers with the Elite from Korea? Currently I tend to do the last thing, 599 USD from the USA as it seems a good deal. What do you think?
Every small hint would be really kind and appreciated!
Thanks a lot!!!
Joerg
It definitely seems like a good offer even if it's not the most U2-ish of them all... But it's a hell of a guitar anyway, and for that price..!! Forget about the bolt-on neck and go for that great deal, I say
