    That would be a pain in the ass. Course he could make a custom doubleneck. I'm shure he and Dalas could figure a good way to have one neck with LP tones, and one with Explorer tones.

    In U2 by U2, Edge commented most of War was recorded on a Fender amp he borrowed, off someone. Combine, that with the lack of delay, and the fact his Explorerseeems to be entirely MIA, and you have the cleanest guitar ever, on a U2 record, which oddly adds to the albums gritty feel.

    Ha, yeah, but would be perhaps slightly pointless if the only song it was really necessary was Walk On which has only been played once in full electric since the Elevation tour...

    Lots of artist use doublenecks on only one or two songs regularly.

    I read that bit about the Fender amp on War. I don't remember how much it was used or not. I thought he said for "Sunday Bloody Sunday" but there could have been more. I will re-read that tonight.

    But keep in mind, a Fender amp cranked can get 'gritty'. And Edge was also using the Guyatone Zoom distortion around the time of the October summer festival shows. There is a distinct chance that it was used on "War".

    Edge also had the 1975 Gibson Les Paul by this time. He also had the Gibson Sonex (poor man's Les Paul - but not a bad guitar). These two humbucker guitars with a cranked Fender amp and perhaps some distortion... plus the EH Deluxe Memory Man can get a bit of overdrive to it.

    Indeed, I only recall him talking about SBS but that doesn't mean he didn't refer to anything else, I just remember him saying they dropped the echo for SBS to get a more forceful idea across.
