    Could be a reference to Bono's ES335 - which he was using around then...

    During the Dec 27th (if memory serves) show... Bono sings... "with a red guitar... sometimes vanilla".

    That night, Edge was using the yellow Clapton for Desire . He'd used the red Clapton some nights during the Aussie shows. (11/18/1989 Sydney comes to mind)

    That said... it might not have referred to either of their guitars initially. Or maybe Edge had gotten the red Clapton and had been playing it in rehearsals - hence Bono writing that line?

    But from my understanding, Edge used the Les Paul Custom on the studio version of Desire - even though he used the White Falcon in the R&H movie version. And I didn't remember seeing the red Clapton in any of the R&H footage. Perhaps Edge didn't get the Claptons until mid-1989 whilst getting ready for the tour - as the (3) Clapton's seemed to take the place of other Stratocasters. (old all black "Blackie", the Danvel Nelson seen used for "...Streets..." in R&H...)

    Thanks. Yep, that Clapton is pretty cool. I play that one often. Only thing missing is the mauve spreckled paint and the painted snake and skeleton cowboy.

    The 12-string Gibson was a steal of a find. I got it for 1250.00. It was a special order that the guy backed out on. So Guitar Center "priced it to sell". I walked in and a sales guy was playing it. I said: That sounds great,. How much? He said $1499.00. I knew that they listed for much higher $2K+. He told me about the special order bit and the guy backing out. I said: 1250.00 out the door and pulled out the cash. He smiled and said - "that'll work".

    The Danelectro sounds and plays great. I want a Ric 12 String. They are THE electric 12-string in most people minds. But the Dan-o is a great and cheaper alternative. My friend and former roommate Clarisse bought that for me. (I have some great friends!)

    Well, I've 11 guitars at last count... so everyone over my apt. for a play. I play well with others and share my toys.

    Plus, if you leave a guitar plugged in... it's a disaster waiting to happen. EVENTUALLY, you or someone will trip over that chord - sending your guitar to the floor. NOT good.


    I have always left my basses with the cables in and I never had any problem.
    About the batteries, there is plenty of room beneath the pickguard to put a battery. And if you mess up, you can always change the pickguard, but you can't bring the wood back.

    I was playing my mate's PRS something or other earlier, wouldn't get one personally (aesthetically, it just doesn't do it for me) but I couldn't deny that it's a great guitar for £450 (so that's what...$600+?). Great pickups, good action - I was cracking out Electric Co. and it felt great lol. Alright, the effects I was using at the time were all wrong (he's got this Line 6 amp. that seems to have a permanent phaser effect going on in addition to his multi-FX pedal, which was set to something mad) but it still sounded great
