A Gretsch Country Gent is on my short-list for NEXT purchase. My buddy has a 1964 Gretsch Country Gent that I covet. GLORIOUS guitar.
  2. Speaking of Dallas Schoo... and I just did...

Dallas w/Edge's 1983 Gibson Les Paul Standard 30th Anniversary Goldtop

Here with the auctioned 1975 Gibson Les Paul Custom

Dallas and Edge's Epiphone Music Rising.

Dallas with Edge's 1994 Fender 40th Anniversary Telecaster - Even though most I know prefer SBS being played on the Strat and in E-flat not D.

And Dallas with the "Vertigo" 1966 blonde Fender Telecaster

Lest we forget the backup to the 1966 heritage cherry SG, this 1966 Pelham Blue SG
  3. Sunday Bloody Sunday is played in D??

It's been in D flat, actually. They've played it in that tuning since Elevation. That is one reason that it's been relegated to that Tele, as it is only used for that one song. It's also one of the reason that many fans seem to say that it seems that it's lost a bit of it's lustre. Higher keeps project more. Lower keys, not so much.

"Sunday Bloody Sunday" tuning is: Yes, one step and a half... (low to high) Db - Gb - B - E - Ab - Db

Ohh man...there is a time when the band has to recognize that certain songs should be dropped.

The tuning is Db, but it's performed in Ab minor (although back in the old days, it was Eb tuning and played in Bb minor)

I agree that if they can't do it in E flat, like they used to... then maybe it's time to set it aside.

  8. I might have a better love and appreciation for the 1994 40th Anniversary Tele if I heard it pitched up to Eflat or E.

Heh, I was going to say that's a weird reason to dislike a guitar, but then I realised that I'm similar in that part of my dislike for Elevation is that it's played on an SG lol...I agree that SBS should go back up to Bb minor at the least if they're going to retain it. But I doubt they'll meet either condition, but just keep it as they have for the last couple of tours...
  10. Yea I like SBS way better on a strat then the tele. The version with the tele is almost too balanced, it's too perfect, where as the old one with the strat (red rocks and such) was more full of rage, and it was had more of an attacking feel. The elevation/vertigo one is almost neutral, plain and simple really good rock song. I'm not saying it's a bad song now days, it still kicks major ass and I love it, I just prefer the version only half a step down with a strat.

My two favourite performances are the Denver show from R&H + Torino (Turin) during the Elevation tour; both using different setups, but both as equally passionate as the other. I prefer the look of the Tele., but how awkward do you want to get by going down 3 semitones?! lol.

I don't 'dislike' that Tele... I just don't think that we've heard it at it's best - yet. Time will tell. Hell, he might not even use it next tour.
