    On other matters, I'm intrigued to know why Edge plays Pride on Strats., yet from watching the misleadingly titled Making of TUF documentary on the Slane DVD (aka. How We Made Pride), he's always playing one of his white LPs ('73 or '75, unsure which) when recording parts for Pride...


    Two scenarios popped up in my mind on this...

    Perhaps the LP and Strat are both on the album? There are more than one guitar track per song. Often layers of many.

    Exampe?: Walk On" is one of the two LP Customs but the solo - that is the Explorer.

    Also the studio footage shows throughout the recording of Pride. So he might have used the LP earlier and later opted for the Strat? Possible.

    Example # 2: "Desire". In R&H, you see Edge playing the 1962 Gretsch (stereo/re-wired to mono) White Falcon. Yet, Dallas has told me that Edge used an LP Custom on the final recording.

    Fact is, that Edge can sound like Edge on most anything. Look at the 1986 Self-Aid footage of "Pride..."; he's playing a hollowbody Yamaha AE2000 (later seen in R&H on "When Love Comes To Town" and in the "Baby, Please Come Home" video)

    1) No worries.
    2) Regardless of the # of guitars I have or my financial situation, I still should have it.
    Plus, the guitar wouldn't be lonely - as I've other guitar friends here.
    3) Lucky for you, I have morals and couldn't steal it. (Damn Morals)

    I saw Edge show up at one of Danny Lanois shows... Hollywood, June 2003 and play 3 tunes with him.

    He was using an orange Les Paul Standard into an EH Deluxe Memory Man delay into a vintage Vox AC30 and STILL... sounded like "THE EDGE" (tm)

    Ha, awesome stuff. Nice pic too! I Still Haven't Found... doesn't sound too good on an Epiphone LP lol...it sounds fine on my Ridgewood Strat. as long as I get the effects correct etc.

    EDIT - Reminds me, must find my slide one of these days...what guitar is Danny playing, dost thou knoweth?

    That is one of Danny's Gibson Firebird VII. (Firebird VII - Three pickups, Tune-o-matic bridge and Maestro "Lyre" Vibrola tailpiece. Gold hardware) Lovely sounding guitar.

    That's the bugger, I was thinking Thunderbird but that's the bass model isn't it? I remember going into one of the decent guitars shops in Norwich some time last year and seeing a gorgeous deep red Firebird hanging from one of the many wall displays and wishing I had a bit of cash on me lol...

    By the way here's a pic of my mate's PRS that I was referring to earlier (or at least, a pic of the model he has, not the actual guitar itself lol!)



    You can probably see what it is I don't like about the look, but the humbuckers sound schveet as. I was interested to read that PRS guitars have PRS-designed humbuckers too, rather than other sort of makes...
  10. Yeah, PRS makes their own stuff. They sound great. But yes, visually - body shapewise - they look a bit generic.

    Like I said before, and as you know, they sound great. And sound should be the key factor. But yes, we all do judge guitars a bit unfavorably by body shape and color.

    I have a dream... that one day a guitar will be judged by it's tone and not it's finish, wood compostion or body style... I have a dream..."
