Anywho...
Bono's Irish Falcon is a pretty cool guitar but the 1959 Gretsch Country Club that he used during the AB sessions and during early Elevation shows was also a pretty great guitar - rumoured to have been bought off Bruce Springsteen.

Lovetown - for reference, I'm listening to the New Year's Day show from the Point Depot, and you can here the gap between the chords - yet on recent versions, he just plays it with normal open chords?

I've seen Danelectro mini's crack. I've seen the knobs come off. I've seen the switches fail and break off.
I am not saying the mini's are all bad. But it's a bit like Payless Shoes... good for some wear but they are hardly Feragamo. Same with the Dan-O mini's. When you pay less - you get less.

Maybe he liked the sound of the power chords back then, and now he likes the open chords?
