1. Here's a question for ye all - why is it that AofH was originally played using "power chords", I mean watch R&H, and Edge plays it thus, and you can tell he is on any live version c. Lovetown - for reference, I'm listening to the New Year's Day show from the Point Depot, and you can here the gap between the chords - yet on recent versions, he just plays it with normal open chords?

    Ha, I think it's more a rhetorical question in hope that people might know...oh Jeff, where art thou?!

    I've seen Danelectro mini's crack. I've seen the knobs come off. I've seen the switches fail and break off.

    I am not saying the mini's are all bad. But it's a bit like Payless Shoes... good for some wear but they are hardly Feragamo. Same with the Dan-O mini's. When you pay less - you get less.

    Hm... I've got my PB&J for a few years now and it never failed me. Can't really imagine myself breaking it accidentally with my foot. Probably the person you're talking about stomps on his effects like a mad elephant... but I guess you could break off Dan-O or BOSS knobs in the same way.

    In the mad elephant case I'd suggest the Ibanez Tone- Lok series or the Danelectro Cool Cats. Both are made of metal. Tone- Loks have push- in knobs while Cool Cats have them on their backside, far from the owner's foot. This should give some protection for those who consider the transparent Danelectro mini protectors too weak.

    Maybe he liked the sound of the power chords back then, and now he likes the open chords? You can ask the same question about a number of songs. Why was Bad on the album just played with open strings, but live it was palm muted? I know the album version is like 2 or 3 guitars, but you can get close with 1. And why didn't he use a humbucker or bridge for Pride live instead of using the bridge/middle of a strat he used/uses? Weird.

    That was my thought as well. Also considering he's not playing it on a Rick. anymore, it's much more stripped down, etc. This is probably why...

    Conclusions;

    a) more questions for Jeff to ask Dallas or Edge when the time comes
    b) Bridges are good for crossing over water.
