That was my thought as well. Also considering he's not playing it on a Rick. anymore, it's much more stripped down, etc. This is probably why...

Eh?! I meant I'm the one with low standards compared to Fenders lol...as a rule, I'd have said that Fender is a more reputable and distinguished name than Epiphone, despite Epi.'s links with Gibson...

There are plenty of SHIT Fenders. There are some SHIT Epiphones.
Epi SG's are abysmal. Most Epi LP's need the tuners swapped out and the pickups. That said, the `56 LP reissues with P-90 p'ups are lovely. Slash LP is lovely. Epi Explorers are fantastic. Epi Casino's are quite nice (and on my short-list of guitars to buy).
Most Fenders that are under 599.99 - it's like the previously mentioned PayLess comment. Most under 600 are shite. Some of them can be saved with some upgrades and some not.

Indeed, an American Tele. would be uber compared to most Epiphones, but I think more in terms of models than makes aswell as looks, e.g. give me a natural finish Explorer (Epi. or Gibson) over most Teles or Strats., but I'd think twice if the Fender in question were a classic black'n'white finish...or the Clapton model Edge used for The Fly/Desire during ZooTV, or his yellow Strat. from the Lovetown days! Bar the odd exception or two, I don't like flashy finishes...

Originally posted by RattleandHum1988Yes indeed. A Squier is much different than Fender. A lot of people think Epiphone is to Gibson as to Squier is to Fender. Nuh uh. But I have played some squiers that don't sound too bad, sometimes you just get lucky.

Ha, that reminds me of the time I replaced my semi-acoustic with the wrong nut, or rather we went to a guitar shop and me, my dad and the owner managed to attach an incorrectly proportioned nut to said acoustic lol. The effect was that the first fret just didn't work, and became the nut, so I lost the last fret at the top end lol...I got used to playing everything a fret up, but everyone else who played it got driven mad lol. When I went to get a new one, the guys at a different guitar shop had never seen anything like it before and spent about half an hour investigating it lol.

Originally posted by RattleandHum1988[..]Wow that is legendary. That is so bogus its legendary and hilarious haha!!! I can't believe that ended up working (or NOT working?) but that's funny that you got used to playing everything a fret up hahaha.
