For sure. But it's the end of the rock'n'roll spirit. Most concerts these days are just big events, political correct family happenings that are closer to entertainment programs than to jam sessions. U2 is the best example for that.
Oasis stand for the old sex, drugs, rock'n'roll thing. No matter what you think about that, I can't see any band taking that spot.

they were the first band who really caught my attention, with all that attitude and the guitar wall of sound
it makes me sad to see that the majority of people here think they put out two great records and nothing else was worthy
they have been pretty relevant through the years, and to a band that you guys say 'had their day', selling out venues this year like Heaton Park (3 nights), Slane Castle, Madison Square Garden and 3 consecutive nights at Wembley Stadium (just to name a few) is pretty remarkable right?
unfortunatelly, i recognize that the feud between the brothers had fucked their success a little bit, but the music is there! and what a great music
the last truly rock 'n' roll band is now gone
i'm gonna miss their attitude and swager and i think they're perfect live (have been to 5 gigs, 4 in 2009).. they put out a great rock n roll show, they were musicians and not entertainers
U2 put out a show! oasis put out a rock concert.. that's the difference loads of people don't get
but hey, don't get me wrong
i also love U2 very much, that's why i'm on this forum
but oasis have and will always have a special place in my heart

Nono I get you. It's indeed a shame and particularly for fans like you. I admire Oasis really but for me their best times ( and with that their best records) were years ago. Their latest album gave me the feeling that they were really back on it, but now this happens...I don't say all the albums outside Defenitely Maybe and Morning Glory are crap but they just don't do it to me like those just mentioned. And you're right about Oasis putting on a rock'n roll concert. U2 puts on a rock show, and that's a huge difference. Hopefully Noel somehow gets back on track with Oasis in the future. Alright, let's put on Champagne Supernova here, at the moment my favourite Oasis track..

You are right about their middle work, Giants and Heathen Chemistry being particularly bleak, although they do have some very nice high points. I for one have always thought Be Here Now is incredibly underrated. It's not as good as Morning Glory and it's a little overambitious which is probably why oasis fell off hard after it, but i still think it's a great record that never gets it's credit because it's compared with the first two.

Yes, I also think there are definitely some great songs on BHN (the first two, for a start). But also on Shoulders - I'm a big fan of the first two, especially the second, there too (Who Feels Love).
