1. Cool story, I love that song but never understand that sentence about strawberry lemonade, I just thought it made no sense at all
  2. Originally posted by LikeASongTalk Tonight was written when Noel 'ran out' on the band during one of their first US tours in late-1994. They were in Los Angeles playing some shows and really taking advantage of the nightlife/drugs. Noel felt they weren't taking the gigs seriously, so he just went out and headed to San Francisco. There, he stayed with a girl he had befriended during a previous show there. They talked and talked, she distraughtly tried to take Noel "off the ledge" and took him to the park where she played as a child. The whole song is about the lot of things he experienced while with her. She was obsessed with 'Snapple' strawberry lemonade so that was also included on the song (All your dreams are made of strawberry lemonade..). The 'chewing on a bone' bit might be a reference about him getting away and having some time to think about the situation of the band and how quickly things were happening.

Ya great story. One of the most underrated Oasis songs in my opinion. Really a shame that so many great songs never were properly released. The Masterplan cd could have probably made for at least one great album
  3. Im listening to High Flyin Birds, once again. This release is really fantastic. The music fits the fall weather.I cant stop listening to this.I havent said that about any release since In Rainbows.

I bought the deluxe version on cd, when it was released. The DVD and 2 extra tracks are well worth it.But I noticed, the deluxe version on iTunes has the song A Simple Game Of Genius. This tune is simply fantastic.A 7 minute classic.I cant believe this was left off the cd deluxe version. It could have easily fit ,as the 13th track on the cd.This song is a must listen.

The cd itself,IMO,is Noels best, most consistent work since Morning Glory. Each song is so good.I wonder if Dream On,is a bit of a shot at Liam ? "Was that SONGBIRD singing." "The bitch keeps bitching." 'The tears you cry are only meant to flatter me".Death of You and Me, seems quite obvious to about the brothers split.Noel insisted this song was the first single.I love it,and the New Orleans horns.Great song.

I always loved Liam,as a singer.Hes not a musician.Hes a performer.A frontman. And a damned good one at that.Noel,of course, wrote the best tunes.Liam caught up slightly towards the end (Im Outta Time is great). But,IMO,Noel is his generations John Lennon.

If High Flying Birds, had been an Oasis release, with Liam on lead.Forget it.This would have been the best release since Morning Glory no question. The music, lyrics are so strong.Noel sings well, and pulls it off.But a few of these songs could have used Liams attitude. His angry snarl.

If I Had A Gun,Death Of You And Me,Record Machine,What A Life.......thats some great tunes in a row there.Stop The Clocks is brilliant.I would have loved to hear Liam sing those songs.

All I know is,Record Machine, live at the Beacon tuesday night, was simply magical.
  4. Didn't Noel say a few years ago (when Oasis was still together) that he was holding back some songs for his own use?
  5. i quote everything ... almost hehe
  6. Not sure.He did say that Liam "ran out to get married" before they could complete Record Machine, for Dig Out Your Soul. The band tried, and failed, many times over the last 10 years,to record a proper version of Stop The Clocks. You would have thought they could have nailed that one.Great great tune.

Noel said the other night at the Becon,he already has another album done.Cant wait.

  7. Nice find.Noel will be fine without Liam and the other guys.Hes the person who writes the tunes. He can sing.Hes a solid musician.

As far as Liam Gem and Andy, they will have to really come up with something great,as Noel has with High Flying Birds.IMO,none of them are on Noels level,as far as being a songwriter.Beady Eyes release did nothing for me.
  8. i find Beady eye album an enjoyable one, i like listening to it every now and then, of course Noel's one is an entirely different dough .. i stated it's definetely the best release of the year .. but what would it have been with Liam in it? .. as you said earlier ... maybe not the best since Morning glory but nearby
  9. Ya if you take Noel's album and throw Liam on vocals for every song except Death of You and Me, What A Life, and Stop The Clocks and then you throw in The Roller, Kill for a Dream and Four Letter Word from Beady Eye and you probably have the best Oasis album since Morning Glory. Although i still enjoy Don't Believe the Truth quite a bit
  10. i know it's a lot criticized and maybe i'm one of the fews but i really like Standing on the shoulder of giants too

There's a few great tunes there, too! The first two, for a start...
