1. A few years ago I downloaded a bootleg of the Slane gig (DVD gig). The sound quality wasnt that good, but I thought it was a dvd rip (I didnt had de dvd around that time). I coincidentally listened to New Years Day of that bootleg yesterday and the song starts with bono saying something like 'open up the bass' , but on the dvd he is not saying that. I know for sure its the same song as is on the DVD, cause he is referring to McAteer there as well.

    Just curious...

Maybe the DVD version is edited - I think I remember Gerard mentioning that UTEOTW is missing the Two Tribes snippet that was originally included, and they removed Mysterious Ways from the main setlist too. You'd have to download the boot from here to compare, I reckon
  3. filmed over 2 nights and indeed some of it is edited. The One speech, Two Tribes etc

So is some of it taken from the first show?

don't think it is. I think it's simply edited out. I think all of the audio is from the 2nd night and some footage is from the first

Ah I see. Yeah, the version of SBS is from a broadcast I was talking about, the little bit about "put your hands in the air" is different to the DVD...I'm thinking it might be from the first night, but I'm not certain.
  7. The 'Cut and Paste' departement again..
  8. I don't really like how they do this. Even if they make a mistake or something like that, the fact that they edit the concert film sort of makes it un-genuine, and it isn't really "true". I have the dvd of Mexico, I have one of the TV broadcast (before the official release came out) and during ISHFWILF, edge makes a mistake on the guitar, and I think Adam smiles at him, and then on the official release they deleted the whole thing out. I'm just saying.

I agree with you...it's less pure. Sometimes U2 shows it's brilliance trough a mistake. We know they're humans so a mistake is always possible and accepted. They shouldn't remove it. With Slane, it was a bit different. Two Tribes as a lyric can cause problems with official material used for commercial purposes. So they ahd to cut it. That's why we never see any snippets during Slane and Boston.

Do You Hear Us Coming Lord probably won't cause any problems.

i think there is very very little edited from Mexico City.... just the "firefly" incident, which was nothing really. which is why PopMart Mexico rocks!

also, I know this isnt the place, but, I am downloading the lossless version of that very performance (MEXICO CITY POPMART). Theres gaps in the one here I think, should I convert this to 192 lbps and share it, when the download finishes? (its not finished downloading yet, but its almost done)
