Another little gem I've come across was my semi-acoustic version of The Fly, which sounds more like a hillbilly edit than anything lol...I cut a piece of the rhythm from the actual song, and basically looped that, before recording multiple guitar parts and slapping it on top...sounds absolutely manic nowadays, but it kinda works in a weird way lol...
I was inspired after watching a vid on YouTube of the version from the Chicago DVD...

I know iPods don't work as such! Hence I suggested just getting a cheap and cheerful mp3 that DOES record. Of course, you could just save up for a mike lol...
