Stalker, Nerd? If I didn't know you loved me I might be offended! LOL!

You didn't have to do anything for work today, did you? That'd be a bummer.....although I know my parents have had to go in on a Saturday to make sure they're ready for the school year to start.
  2. I made the rest of my photocopies for the week and did some equipment orders (new laptop / projector for the theatre *drool* ) and tried to help admin figure out how to get some kids out of my class since I'm 24 over my legal limit as of right now. But I was only in for 2.5 hours. THen took my son to his tap recital

    How 'bout you?
  3. Tap recital?

    uh-oh.....

Ummm....today was my last day with my mom here. she's been here taking care of me for the past ten weeks and flies back to Minnesota tonight. So, today was the final day for her and my step-dad to help me get ready for life on my own. Grocery store, bank, hanging U2 posters around the apartment, etc.

What types of shows are you planning on putting on this year?

We like to keep him well rounded - tap dance, soccer, and drums

I sobbed like a baby the day my mom left after my son was born. she was here for a month (she's a pediatrician)

We're doing this totally crazy show in Sept - it would take a while to describe it - then Fiddler on the Roof, then a 1950's commentary on gender/women's identity and finally The Crucible (Arthur Miller, Salem Witch Trials, etc) So starting out w/ comedy but then pretty heavy the rest of the year.

How are you gonna get out and about now that Mom's gone? Gonna buy a car soon or what?.

Sounds like quite a load of interesting stuff this school year! Do you have a problem getting the students to memorize lines?

I'm gonna try and get out and about, but I still don't have a car. I'm still of the mindset that I don't need to rush into anything. I still do like the Honda Fit, but the Sport tends to be out of my pricerange. We'll see.

My gf is coming out on the 23rd, and I have a friend from Portland coming out a couple days before, so I'll have friends around for a while. It's just that I'll be alone at home for about the next 10 days.
  6. 10 days is a long time. Let us know if you need some bread or milk or anything - I'll have it FedEx'd over!

Yeah, sometimes the memorization thing is a problem but it's just one of the hurdles we have to jump over. There's sets to build, costumes to sew, and that 'acting' thing to try and master! I'm dreading the first day right now but I know as soon as the kids walk through the door, I'll be excited.

Watching the olympics? I just watched Michael Phelps win his first gold of the olympics in the 400m IM! It was an awesome race!!!

Just saw that race too....watching a 400m freestyle now.

How long have you been teaching in the theater dept.? At this same school?

And I'll let you know if I need any bread fedex'd over thanks
  8. I've been teaching for 11 years - at this school full time drama for... this'll be my 9th year! I also did my student teaching at this school.

The German and Chinese female swimmers don't really look like women in those suits.
Dara Torez is my friggin' HERO!!!

    I haven't seen them yet.....maybe we're a little behind?

That's cool that you've been there so long. Just out of curiosity....has your outlook on teaching changed since you started? Like how you reach the students? What you think/expect them to leave the school with that you taught them?

Sorry if that's too much thinking about work for a Saturday night. If so, ignore me.

Aw, you know me, I can talk about myself forever!!! But right now I gotta go to bed. (swim practice in the morning, now that I'm all inspired!) Sorry to leave you hangin'. Short answer? Yeah, I work harder to reach them but also give up on some of them more quickly. Long answer? That'll have to wait for another night!

    Sleep well!
