I once read a few months ago that they were pretty proud of the bass lines, so that would make sense. The recording is muffy but quite understandable though. I just wonder why these fellows keep talking all the time. Shut up, get closer to the source and you have a great recording. But that's the essence of beach clips, there must be a certain room for guessing, I think.

The reason for the talking and the distance is that there was some security around and Bono was watching them, so it wouldn't have been the best idea to record it openly. they pretended to just listen and take photos. The recording comes from a mobile phone that was hidden in a bag. What do you guys expect?

From the story the poster told on Interference, there was a security guard on the beach right where they were, so he had to make believe he was just having a normal conversation with whoever he was with. At one point he said he had to put his phone in his pocket while he was recording because the guard came too close them.
