1. "She's Holding On/Bareback" is supposedly one of the many working titles for "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses".

Other working titles for "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses" being "Morning Child" and "Don't Turn Around".

  2. "Sick Puppy" (Mysterious Ways) started with Adam's slinky sexy bass part. Edge was then experiementing with the (at the time) new Korg A3 multi-effects unit that he'd obtained. He came across the 'funk wah' patch on the Korgs SPC-01 sound card and fiddled with it some... Bono heard the sound and said something to the effect of: "THAT, THAT is it!. That is the sound this song needs." The rest, as they say, is history.

That's quite an interesting story. Would you believe that there are more demos and titles I've found? This is gonna be the longest list ever.
  4. There was one that's in the outtakes of Rattle and Hum called "Moving Out" or "Moving On," or something to that effect...I'll take a look for it when I get home.

This list is fantastic Drew. Where did you find out about the song titles from Bono's briefcase? Was that the one that got stolen in '81?
  5. The song titles are from the stolen briefcase from 1981, such a fascinating story of where it ended up, too. And thanks for the title; I'll find out more about it.

For the ATYCLB section, I think we have enough, something like 50. Some photos of the briefcase contents below.

Edit: Alright, Moving Out coincides with my initial thoughts; it's a Rattle and Hum demo.
  6. ^Holy shit. Absolute gold mine. Wow.
Thank you so much for posting those photos.
Can you even imagine being in possession of Bono's hand-written lyrics? Amazing.

There's no indicative proof any of these songs actually exist, in any form. I can only get hold of what most fans can get hold of, which is pretty much what you see above. For all we know, they could have been destroyed, or are to be released as part of the remaster series, or wealthy fans could have them in very tight trading circles.

Some of the VERY early songs may no longer be on tape. But my guess is the way U2 has always archived their music and live performances they all still exist. They don't destroy anything on purpose.

There are a few even rougher working titles of songs not listed here from more recent sessions. I'm sure they will morph and change titles several times if and when they are ever released on a future album.

  8. Drew, have you checked the photos from U2ByU2? The ones from the studio, the papers, notes and the whiteboards showing song names?

True but depending upon the day of the photo... that 'title' on the board may have already turned into another title of a released song.

Example: "Down All Days" was on the Achtung Baby board. It later became "Numb".

I haven't yet. Still a few things to check out as well as the book. But if it's a title, and it's there, then I will add it. I've come across quite a few that I had an idea of, even if they have no source. For example, $1,000,000 Theme sounds like Million Dollar Hotel from the ATYCLB sessions. Considering the sessions started in very early 1999, quite possibly it could be the original working title.
  11. Well, I added the 2005-2008 titles, and some descriptions - is that what you're talking about?
