My main problem is finance, i need (i say need, i mean want haha) a bigger amp to what i have, and one with quality. ideally id spend alot of money for a some really good equipment, i dont want to spend a lttle less just because i cant affird it and end up with a lesser sound. i might just have to save up for years!x

That's a very good point. I don't know if there's a quality difference between the AC30 and 50, but I kinda knew I wanted the control panel in the front so I did not care. I hope you find what you're looking for
  2. There must be something different between an AC50 and AC30. I don't know enough about amps to be able to talk about it much, but why would an AC30 with blue alnicos be 800 bucks more than a AC50?
  3. First of all, it's name and image. The AC30 is a classic, the AC50 is just an amp.

Second, it's indeed the speaker. A single Blue Bulldog costs about 345 Euro. Look here: http://www.thomann.de/de/celestion_blue_bulldogs_12_2.htm

Of course, this horrendous price comes from the speaker's name and image, too. If I were on a budget, I'd avoid these overpriced boutique pieces and go for the Vox Neodog speakers instead, they come quite close. Otherwise I can always suggest Celestion or Eminence speakers. My fav guitar speaker is the Celestion Vintage 30. Good for rock. In a 2x12 cab for a 30 Watt amp you could also make some good use of Celestion Greenbacks.

  4. My guess would be they can charge a premium for the AC30 because it is the amplifier of 1960s British Invasion fame that is used my so many professional musicians to this day. I know it also has a built in tremolo effect the AC50 lacks. Aside from that I don't know why they are priced differently.

Have you come to a final conclusion?

  6. Haha, not as of yet
Ive still got my heart set on a AC30 (obviously), but i just bought a Boss DD3 so any amp will have to wait for a while!
Fingers crossed ill come into a bit of money soon though eh? x
