1. I don't know if anybody here likes Paul or The Jam and Style Council but I just HAVE to tell someone! I went to his concert and my friend and I got backstage! We stayed back there for three or four hours, and it was AMAZING! He was plastered but very nice, if a little leery but in a good way I gave him my bands demo and then next morning he rang me up to thank me for "giving him a great night." I recieved a phone call from the Modfather, and I didn't even sleep with him. My mind is blown.

    AARGH! Best night EVER!
  2. DAMN YOU!!!!!! jk

That's amazing, I'm a massive Modfather fan as well. I listend to 22 Dreams and bunch of his other songs while driving across Ohio yesterday.

If you don't already have it I suggest you download his acoustic BBC theatre performance from 2001--I got it the other day, really good stuff. I think Out of the Sinking was a real highlight.

    Good for you!
  3. Fanks. I shall download EVERYTHING. I've just started buying all his solo stuff, and it's pretty damn good. 22 Dreams is a great album and even better live. We followed them to Melbourne to see another show which was also fantastic. I've been listening to a lot of Jam and realised that early pre-Boy U2 is really quite influenced by them.

Indeed, you can hear the sort of fast, energetic, almost angry electric guitar in both early U2 and The Jam. Weller inspired me to buy a Rickenbacker guitar and Vox amplifier, as he used with the Jam.

What are your favorite tracks off of 22 Dreams?
  5. Paul Weller is a GOD

I absolutey love the Jam, there one of my favourite bands

    lucky you!
  6. I like 22 Dreams and Made up your mind and Seaspray is amazing live - gives me shivers just thinking about. how about you?
why walk when you can run is pretty good too.

I LOVE Paul Weller. The Jam is one of my favorite bands. Contrats on meeting him. I'm very jealous but very happy for you. So cool.
  8. Light Nights, All I Wanna Do is Be With You, Cold Moments, Push It Along. And Echoes Round The Sun is fantastic I think--I love the big fat bassline.

Good stuff. Anything with Noel Gallagher on it is fine by me...I forgot about Cold Moments, I love it. Actually I love everything on the album. Even the spoken word thing.
Was Andy Lewis on bass on Echoes? He's a good player and a nice guy.

I think it was actually Noel on bass, per the Oasis website and the music video. He has a thing for big distorted bass sounds (like on Oasis' "Go Let It Out").
  11. christ, i don't think i've ever heard 'go let it out'. what albums that on?

  12. Standing On The Shoulder of Giants, and released on their greatest hits Stop The Clocks.
