Yeah, that whole spinal cord injury makes me just sound whiney about a sinus infection. So you still have pain associated with it? Do they know if that's gonna last forever or will it eventually heal/scar over/ numb up? My dad had a staph infection in his spine 3 years ago and it still bothers him.

And maybe a little case of 'the bed's too big without a certain someone' as Sting would say, maybe. I know when Mr.Z isn't around I don't sleep as well, hence me being up late on the night he has band practice!

First off....I didn't know Mr. Z had a band! AWESOME!!!! I'm assuming he's the guitar player, since he was Edge for Halloween?

Second, I hope I didn't sound like "yeah, I'm sick of your complaining. At least you have a working spinal cord!" (because I only say that to my girlfriend! ) I'm generally pain-free, although today has kind of sucked. I've had nagging aches for the past 2 months and I thought it was finally behind me since I had about 4 days straight with no pain in that shoulder spot, but today it came back, which is very frustrating. The doctors have never really said what to expect as far as recovery because my condition is so rare. I know of a couple guys who have had it one and two years, and they're not walking yet. Another kid got it about a week before I did, and still can't really move his legs....so, I feel incredibly lucky.
  2. WOW! I didn't know your recovery was THAT dramatic. All the more to be proud of. And let me know if you get sick of talking about it too!

Yeah, Mr.Z is in a band, has been in one band or another, sometimes two at a time, since I've known him. That's how we met actually. My high school boyfriend who I'd broken up with but was still friends with in college, was in a band with him! But he plays drums. He's played bass in other bands and just writes stuff and messes around on guitar. I envy his talent. I can read music but I can't 'play'. It's like being able to say words outloud without really understanding what they mean. But it's cool. I just wish I liked the music this particular band played better.

uh-oh....what do they play? Metal? Punk? Tex-Mex?

Don't worry, I don't get sick of talking about it....only in that it makes me realize how fortunate I am. (not in a "I love me" way.)
  4. Well, a few years back, their style of music was called 'Alt-Country' or 'Americana'. I call it crap.

SonVolt and Wilco are a couple bands who have dabbled in the genre and don't suck. Don't get me wrong, they're great musicians. I just don't dig the sound. I hid it for a really long time but then finally 'fessed up. He understands and I try to make a gig once a year, just to, you know, be supportive and whatnot. And keep the groupies in check!!!
  5. Zooey's gotta bust some skulls! I understand completely.

So, maybe this is better served via PM (don't wanna talk too much about Miss C.) but she's an artist. She does collage art, and I noticed that it was one of your interests/hobbies. I should show you some of her stuff.....actually, she has a website.
  6. ooh!!! Yeah, PM me her website - I'd love to check it out. I'm just getting into it, mainly Artistic Trading Cards.

*warning: NERD ALERT* I actually did a whole set of U2 cards. I'm not an artist, per se, in that, much like my musical abilities, I can't create the original product so I take other media and 're-create'!

  7. Not so much, LOL! Although there was a time... long ago... but now, ya know, everyone knows where he's going at the end of the night.

Have I mentioned my love for the saying "Nerd Alert!!!"? (i know, bad punctuation there, but it looked even worse any other way.) At first, I was like "Artistic trading cards?!?" but then I got what you're saying....at least I think I did. Seems like a pretty cool idea!
  9. I was not aware of your love of the phrase but I'll put it in the stalker file. And, hang around me enough and you'll get to use it all the time.

ATC's are miniature works of art, usually collage, on a piece of cardstock the size of a playing card. I did a 'deck' of U2 cards with another girl - each band member was a 'suit'. Here's one
    [insert nerd alert here]

  10. WOW, okay, that's bigger than I thought it would be.

That's what she said (couldn't help it )

  11. Oh geez.....(but still very cool. Of course Edge's Queen has to be him in drag....)
