A scale would be when you play an octave, like if you play Middle C,D,E,F,G,A,B,High C, and go back down, and the other three scales have sharps and/or flats thrown in An arpeggio is when you play the first, third, fifth, and last note of a scale, like Middle C,E,G,High C, and then back down, it's very confusing
