Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about Katarina Witt. I know she is a german figure-skater and she still seems to be very popular. If anyone has any information on her that'd be pretty cool to learn. I know many of you on here are from Europe so I hope you all can tell me what you know about her. Thanks for the help.

well, Kati Witt, as she is called over here in Germany, is quite good looking and was a professional ice-skating performer (don't know if this is the correct word in English, too much into football I think ;-)). The other side of the story is that if you wanted to be as famous as her in the former GDR (East Germany) you have to be on top in the Communist party SED and/or in the Stasi, the secret service. Even today there is a lot of discussion in how far she was involved. By now she earns er living in more or less kitshy TV formats.
Yeah I read that the Stasi was a major rumor during the time she was figure-skating. I also found out she did playboy and it ended up being there second biggest-selling issue ever! That's crazy for a magazine like that. Katarina must really be something if she can get a magazine sold really well.
