1. I think, for me, it's not whether it's classic U2 or not, I just don't like the sound of it, end of lol. It's not a case of "oooh Edge is doing something weird" or the guys going off the rails and 'un-safing' themselves from classic U2dom or whatever, it wouldn't matter who was playing it - I don't like what I hear from that clip lol.
  2. True, just like Achtung this sounds un U2. Theres a difference between Achtung and this though. Achtung sounded brilliant whereas this sounds a little crap

On that video you can probably hear only 20% of music of eventually one of the songs in future, so I can't see any parallels between something that's been made 17 years ago and something that's still in progress...

What we're trying to say is that people probably reacted same way when after JT and R&H they heard "Salome".

and i think by any stretch of the imagination, this is far from crap, U2 or not, it's beautiful music, in my humble opinion of course

In "your humble opinion" is what I think you 'meant' to say? As in in your "humble opinion you feel that the tune on the video seems - to you - perhaps a bit crap".

Judging by many responses, not all agree with you.

Sure you don't have to like anything. You don't have to like it because any one or more people do. But to say it is "a little crap"... well, that doesn't hold water. That dog don't hunt. And not everyone is saluting your "it is a little crap" flag.

Of course all the above being my humble opinion of your (supposedly) definitive but perhaps inaccurate assessment of the material being discussed.

    humbly.

It's very relaxing, and it's probably not finished yet, so it could very well turn out great

  11. true. this album hopefully will have many colors to it, i'm sure it will rock but i'm sure as everyone has said, it will sound totally different. I'm personally glad to hear that U2 is not making another "guitar" record, I was excited at that prospect before Bomb came out, and I'm happy with that record, but as Bono said of the early sessions for it, they got bored, they need more colors to work with than just plain old rocking out, U2 rocked the hell out of the Vertigo tour, they really did. But I think their strength lies in creating new sounds that no one has heard. Judging from other clips, including the beach clips, this album will rock, but i think it will also soar to new heights. A lot of rock bands stay on the ground, U2 has always achieved lift off, I think to an extent Vertigo stayed on the ground, but that's where it was built, and meant to be; yet it was still more transcendent than most "guitar" songs. Not sure if this really makes sense, but then again, it's just my opinion
