1. Oasis have been all but confirmed as headliners for next year. Whats your thoughts? Worthy or should somebody else be there?

I'd personally rather have seen REM or the Kings Of Leon maybe. REM have headlined before and the Kings might be a little young. I thought Coldplay may have been in the running even.

Well, U2 would make that easily. And it's been 8 years...

And REM, as Gerard says, it's been 13 years! Their last album rocked, I think they deserve it!

And what has Oasis reached in the past years? Nothing...

I forgot about Kings of Leon, their album is cool, they might be good enough. Now we're at it; maybe The Killers would work? I'd prefer REM though...

    Keane? Who is Keane?

Coldplay will probably finish their tour in February 2009, so I don't see them touring in summer again.

U2 has no release date for a new album, no tour announced either...

    Oasis seems a reasonable choice.

I think that there are still enough REM-fans out there to fill Slane, besides they could just do a few shows, not start an entire tour.

Keane is the band with THE album of 2008 IMO...

    Coldplay: See REM

U2 knows that they're gonna tour this summer, so it wouldn't be that hard to get them to Slane...

    Keane certainly no chance.

REM headline Oxegen and sold out pretty well. 60,000 there. The REM and Slane factor combined could sell out.

Oasis do seem a safe bet but I donno. Just not goo enough in my opinion but yet again the same could have been argued with the Stereophonics when they headlined.

Okay, Oasis is the safest, but certainly not the best.
Now I think about it: Travis. I mean, if Stereophonics once headlined, than Travis should too...

Altough it would be hard to get 80000 fans lol...
  7. Coldplay are allegedly playing Knebworth in the Summer.......

Travis are better than Stereophonics. They deserve more attention imo

  9. Sounds like a good combination...Slane-Knebworth-few other festivals

  10. nope.

Doing Knebworth AND Slane would be big news. Did Robbie do both in the same year?

R.E.M., as much as I love them, couldn't even fill any venue on their amazing Accelerate tour, so I don't see them fill Slane unless it's their only stop after a new release.

THE album of 2008 belongs to someone else, but that's another topic. Anyway, they just aren't big enough (yet)

Coldplay would be cool, but chances are that they don't feel like doing more shows after a year on tour. Who knows if they weren't asked.

U2 doesn't even know when they have a record out, so it seems pretty risky for them to agree on playing Slane.

  12. Well, I have to go with Gerard here, Juraj. I love Travis way more than Stereophonics, but I don't think that they should get more attention...

    Robbie? Robbie Keane? lol...
