  4. ZooTV Stockholm and Milan both have great versions, but truthfully, this is one song that I'd rather listen to the studio cut of. So I suppose my vote goes to the AB version.

    Today it was 4 years to the day I first listened to that Lakeland version of Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, my first bootleg song ever. Ivan (a friend of mine) sent it to me while chatting on MSN at late night, and I was really, really shocked. I only knew U2 live from their official recordings, I had never experienced the rawness and the emotion that a bootleg recording could give to you. Listening to that extended bridge and outtro (and the We still be friends? that I still sing during every version, studio or live) made me realize that I had a long, long way into U2 bootlegs - and that became true! It's 4 years now since I listened to that song, and after having a tough day, I'm gonna take some minutes to relax and listen to it again

  7. I don't think they are so against playing this song. If they were like that then they would have never played it on the Vertigo Tour.


  8. I think they never really finished the song musically and as such made it difficult to do live. The Zoo versions were different to the Vertigo versions, we've had acoustic attempts and quite a few studio reworks also. It needed a couple more hours in the studio back in 91.

    It's perfect if you ask me. If they merely replicated Zoo's first leg I'd die a happy man.
  10. I personally love it but agree with Gerard, and more importantly, with Larry. He said (U2byU2 I think) that he was sad that they didn't finish a potentially awesome song like Horses, and he felt they quite didn't make justice to how great it could have ended up being.
